I hope this isn't a bad omen!

I just picked up my Blue Pearl Fit Sport on Thursday and by the time I got home from work I had already lost one of the keys. So how do I go about getting a replacement and how much is it going to cost me?

Oops! Wrong forum. I'm not doing too well lately. I do love the car, though.

you have to go back to a honda dealer to get another key cut. But make sure you take your other 2 keys as well because they have to reprogramm all the keys to the car. The price of the key is about 80 bucks but then you will have to pay the labor it costs to reprogram the key which is about another 160.

Unhappy I hope this isn't a bad omen!

I got my Blue Pearl Sport on Thursday and by the time I got home from work I'd already lost one of the keys. Any ideas on where to get a replacement? The dealer's parts department was no help.

The dealer can cut you a new key.

There are issues:
1) the ID chip inside the key has to be configured
2) the transmitter on the new key has to be programmed for your remote system to use it.

You must have a crappy parts department at your dealer, mine would do everything they could to get me going in a situation like that!!

Good luck!!

David

stk,

My dealer told me that to replace a key would run about $130. I hope I never have to replace one!

My dealer said it would be $88 for me to have an extra key made for my mom. I guess she'll be borrowing my key if she wants to drive my car!

the last time I needed a key replaced I found the blank on ebay for about $35 bucks, programing was easy I did it myself and I had a lock smith cut it for me since I still had one of the originals. Odds are that the Fit is still too new for you to see the blanks on ebay yet unless they share the same blank as the Civic or something. You could always look there and see. They will probably start showing up there sooner or later. Good luck!

Make sure when asking about a replacement key you ask if that is the cost for labor and the key. Yes!!! Labor at 2 different places was $45-55. The key itself was $44 or 55 depending on the base or sport model and the dealer. It seems that we have to know what to ask for not just "how much to get a key made?" And also some dealers do not have the blanks yet. I did get 2 keys with mine though.
