Used (slightly) Prius vs. Fit

I know there are Prius vs. Fit threads, but was wondering your opinion about a used Prius.. I see a handful of 08/09 in the 13k-17k range with about only 20k-30k miles for the prius vs a fit..

I know the Fit is fun (def agree) and has cargo space, but real fun for me is saving a couple MPG's on my way to bang my girlfriend and her roommate, and cargo space I rarely use as I already have an SUV and need a day to day.

I know there are issues about battery replacement, but assuming I get a newer used Prius (07-09), warranty will still be in effect.

Also it seems Used Fits are priced higher (comparatively speaking given starting new prices) to Prius, as there seems to be less used Fits around, granted so due to the "fun" factor.

Assuming I bang my girlfriend's roommate for fun, and put a higher priority on those extra MPG's and savings in replacement of a "fun drive," I really see no reason why I should get a new (or 2009/2008 Fit even) given that the price spread dips considerably between a used Prius vs. Fit.

Please tell me I'm missing something? Thanks.

Ah... hum...

What you need to do is stop pretending you want a Fit. First it was the Fiesta and now its the Prius.

But that isn't why I am suggesting that... but the fact you put that you "bang" your girlfriend and her roommate, not once, but TWICE.

It's like seeing an H2 Hummer with chrome everywhere and gigantic exhaust pipe.

You want a higher priority on MPG with a used car? Honda Insight 1st Gen.

thanks i think i overdid it with the gf thing, but another option i had was the yaris.. many people bashed it bc it wasn't as "fun" and i've seen similar fit fans claim prius wasn't as "fun."

i think after a year the fun factor is discounted and when you look at slimmer price spread for used prius vs. whatever car (fit in this case) you can take those real savings in MPG's and invest in "actual fun" like picnics at the park or extra lube.

fun... is one of those things that are subjective.

Some people think its "fun" to bike around in 100 degree weather and sweat off half their weight. Some people think roller coasters are boring, yet staring at a painting for an hour is fun.

If you're not looking for fun, then it won't be fun. There are folks on here that bought the first release (in NA) Fits, and they still think its fun, and that's what? 4? 5 yrs ago?

You need to decide FIRST, what is it that you want in a car?

I wanted a smaller car.
I wanted a more fuel efficient vehicle.
I wanted something cozy, but had capacity.
I wanted something that didn't have the styling to make me want to puke.

If MPG is your top priority, then you have to consider: how distant is that second priority?

Do you want a really high MPG car, and don't mind that it looks like a tadpole? (Honda Insight 1st Gen).

Do you want a fairly high MPG car that looks a bit better? (Toyota Prius)

Do you want decently high MPG car that's slightly cheaper? (Honda Insight 2nd Gen)

Do you want high "enough" MPG car that with this styling or that styling? (Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, etc)

No matter how you cut it... YOU have to figure out, what you want. And then, give your top few choices a test drive and evaluate from there.

^^ Lol funny. Really u want great MPG get a bike to ride over there. But i would say prius may be cheaper used but i think there is a reason for that. High maintance costs down the road for hybrids. But i don't know for sure. It seems the Fit holds its value better which for me is good enough. I mean i get a average of 36mpg in the city. I don't think the prius gets me that much better and i really need the room and comfort of the Fit

Will driving a Prius hurt your "game" though?

For a similar price the Prius does have some potential against the Fit. Though I am still not sold on gas mileage. Unless you drive a LOT, gas just isn't yet expensive enough where 35MPG vs 50MPG is worth that much.

i would still get the Fit. prius is not very efficient or environmentally friendly... and the earlier gen doesnt look that great either, imho.

Think about the repair cost of the Prius. In 5 years when the batteries start to take a shit. They are in the neighborhood of 5000 and another 1200 to 1500 to have installed. That makes sense to spend alil more on the fit and save it in the long run. But your a baller so why not just run out and buy yourself a Smart or some other ubber cool car.

ok ok you guys sold me...

this thread scared the crap outta me despite finding some Totyota "reps" swear on the lower Prius maintenance because of less parts (ie normal brake pads/tranny/etc)..

Should You Buy a Second-Hand Prius?

yes the prius is a sex killer, but i dont need an auto for a penis extension, i have my penis for that..

that said its down to USED fit vs. USED yaris...

im a cheap ass i admit it (despite having my condo/cars/etc paid for - my beggarly ways are in my blood, what can i say).. so importance to me is higher MPG's and low cost..

Used Yaris has both higher MPG's and much cheaper to used Fit ..i understand not as "fun" but i have other vices for "fun"..

i vomit on site at the look of the Yaris HB, so Yaris sedan I must research..

i hate analysis paralysis, but it's a necessary evil.. there WILL be a new car in my driveway end of week. lastly, thanks.

I still say Fit yea we all have other means of fun besides our car at least i hope every one does. But i feel i always want to have fun. Why should i sacerfice fun for a couple of mpg. I guess you don't drive as much as i do. So for me i can have fun on the way to work than i can have a blast at work. Than have a fun drive home and relax at home and get into more fun. But hey thats just me i think life is about having fun all the time not just when im BANGING ROOMATE SLUTS!!

Well said, went to dealership to compare fold down back seats with lie down front seats and I realized how much more cubic space of sluts I can fit in a Fit vs Prius.

double win.

whoa, hey, WTF, common sense...are you trying to ruin this thread...it's much more fun to ask opinions of a Fit on a Fit forum to get an objective response...why do any work when there is the internet to do it for you
