Honda noise when backing up

I have a 1999 honda accord and for the last week when I back up a sound comes from the rear like a car horn, first time I heard it I thought a car was in back of me. Any ideas what sound is?

My first thought is worn brakes.

But that's just my first thought...

Don't take this as "gospel" but my Uncle had a PT Cruiser that made a horrible braking "clunk" sound when first starting and backing up. I also owned a GM Saturn that did the same thing. We were both told it was simply a function of the ABS system self adjusting. I never had a problem except for the sound.

However, I would say, I've never noticed a similar sound with my Fit.
