Anyone have an interesting story about getting your fit?

I recently(yesterday) acquired my 2nd FIT, and thought i would share my story, as my friends/family think i am crazy for doing what i did to get it..lol So it got me thinking if anyone else has went to any great lengths to buy their car.

Here is how it began:

A few weeks ago i had a couple approach me about buying my 09 SSM Sport 32k miles(5mt/nav). I wasn't selling the car, and LOVE the car, so i told them i had no interest in letting it go.

The guy kept emailing me trying to get me to sell it, and was offering me a great price, so i said what the hell, let me see if i can find a TW 5mt, as that is what i wanted anyway, but had no luck finding one when i was in the market.

I told the guy if i could find what i wanted, for the right price, i would consider selling it, but I was not willing to negotiate AT ALL on the price of my car.

Well i happened to find one in Ohio, a white 5mt/nav, with 21k miles on it, for a STEAL. In fact I have NO CLUE how the car didn't sell.

So I sold the couple my car last Wed, and booked my trip to Ohio.

I basically was getting the same exact car, with 11k less miles, in my color choice, and MAKING over $3k in my pocket.

Sunday night i flew from AZ to Ohio. I got into my hotel at 12:30am, went to sleep and woke up at 6am. The guy picked me up at 6:45, I bought the car, and we proceeded to go to the DMV, get temp tags, etc.

After jumping through a bunch of hoops at the DMV, i finally got on the road. I left Columbus at 10am and drove 27.5 straight hours(1975miles) back to AZ. I got home today at 10:30am AZ time.

The car ran awesome the entire trip, and i had a lot of fun. I had a great time coming down through the canyons, in AZ.

The FIT is in near flawless condition, other then a few rock chips on the hood(mine was worse), and a scrape on the underside of the lip. The guy used it as his commuter car, so literally the entire interior is brand new, other then the driver seat.

So that is my story, I still haven't slept. I have gotten a total of 5.5 hrs of sleep since Sunday..lol

i was in the market for a used GD cause i couldn't afford the GE. GDs were going for like 14-15k at dealers...which I thought wasn't worth it.

One day i went to the bank, saw a brand new TW manual GE in front with dealer plates. I stood there waiting for the guy to come out and i asked him how much was his financing and otd price and his sales guy.

After i heard the price, i was sold. I called the exact same dealer, talked to the same sales guy and said my friend bought a car from you and i want the same one. at the time they had the TW GE sport 5spd with navi, but i didnt want navi (i should of gotten it now that we know that is the holygrail of GE Fits (TW navi 5spd sport))...so they ordered it from another dealer and i picked it up that weekend for that same price as the guy from the bank

That is a cool story. That is the exact reason i wanted a TW 5mt/Nav. Just because it is rare.

Part of me wants to sell it, if i can get a good price for it, and find a low mileage GD, but I doubt i will..

My Accord had gotten hit and was just a clunker. Got it out of the bodyshop, and just didn't really wanan drive a wrecked car anymore. I work at a Honda dealer so asked what he had. They tried to sell me a 2010 so bad, but hey had a SSM 2009 Sport 5spd/ Navi with 199miles. I fell in love on the testdrive. I've gone back and forth of the past months that I should have gotten a used GD chassis, but now I'm glad I went in my direction.

Lets see my First Fit a 08 vbp mt. I was 2 weeks out from moving from San Diego to FL. I crashed my Evo 8 one day at the beach. Did not have the time to take it to a shop or get it fixed at all was now 1 week out from moving and was still in college. So i put it up for sale for a cheap price of $5k cash. Next day i got the cash from a Guy in LA. Well than i decide no more boy racer for me. I wanted to buy a house in FL so only a good DD. I thought Honda so i went there looked at all the cars than i saw the Fit. I said to the sales man how much is this. He said $18600 OTD. I test drove it and was in love with it great looking car good on gas and cheap for brand new. I bought it and drove it to FL.

Well my second Fit 08 MR AT. I was now in FL and had the first Fit with many mods and coils. Well it started to rub on everything because it was so low and i got a raise at work. So i was thinking i did never buy the house i wanted to so why not get a nice sports car than. So went to a car i wanted for a while to go look at a S2k at honda. Loved it they wanted $22k for it and it was WHITE. Well came back the next day to buy it they sold it on me. But than said well we have a S2k CR over here for sale as well but its brand new. I said hmm lets go test drive before i looked at the price. Well loved every second of it. Than i say the $40k price tag and said no way. Well than they offered my $19.8k for the Fit and said they would give me the CR for $35k if i traded the Fit into them OTD price of course. I thought about it for about 40minutes and got the CR. Than about a year passes. I realize i am wasting way to much money on a car and i can't even put my dog into it. So i went on a search for another Fit. Could not find one at a good price near me to save my life. Untill i drove by the mazda dealer ship and saw the one i currently have. I bought it that day and traded the CR in for it.
I'm now trying to be smart with my money. But im still thinking about geting another fun car once the Fit is payed off. But im not sure if i want to waste that much money again. I told myself the only way i would let the S2k go if i bought another one down the road or another EVO. Well sorry about the long post

I got my first Fit today!! Love it!
Funny part - I traded in a Mazda CX7 with 140k miles. It had one, count 'em, one door ding that my wife put in it in our carport with her 02 Civic. No telling how many miles I walked in parking lots to keep the body perfect. So we're driving up a two lane road on our way to trading it in, with an already set trade in price because of full pics of the car and we go past some jake-leg on his riding lawnmower and WHAMM!! My wife screams and ducks, I hit the brakes and pull off the road, get out and walk over to her side of the car and HOLY CRAP, you should see the double boulder dent in the driver's door! On the way to trading it in!! Oh well, police report and pleasant conversation with a very sorry home owner later, we head off to the dealer at about 5 mph UNDER the speed limit to lose $500 of our trade in value. :-(
THe two best parts are the boulder was low enough to not go thru the passenger window and seriously injur either of us or possibly cause a serious wreck and we LOVE our new Fit.

I told my salesman I wanted a VBP Sport and they said it would be in the dealership in May around the 17th. I stopped down to the dealership to see if they had gotten it in but the salesman told me they had only gotten in a MR Sport and a base Tidewater which were sold the minute they came off the hauler. He looked on the computer and said it would be June before the VBP would be there. I was bummed but back in 2007 the Fit was not on the lot for very long. I was driving by the dealership the next day and there beside the office was parked the MR. I figured they were getting ready to do the detailing for the new owner. I decided to stop off and just look at the car. A young salesman came out and said, Do you like that little red car? I said, oh I love the Fit but I know this one is sold. He said no the deal fell through and I asked him if my salesman was working today and he said yes. When he went inside and had Lee come out, Lee was laughing so hard. He said Miss Fit - I want to tell you I did not realize I did not have your home phone and these peoples deal fell through Friday night and you'd already left work. I told the guys to park the Fit beside the office and if you drove by you'd stop to look at it. He said I know you wanted the VBP but I wanted to give you the first offer on the car before it goes to the lot. I did the test drive -told Lee I would buy the car and had to wait until Monday to get the loan worked on. He marked it as sold and placed it on the back lot. I drove it off the lot the following Tuesday. Never thought I would drive a red car but OMG I love my MR Fit! Oh yeah - we added trophy number 12 to the shelf yesterday. Best of Show Post 90!

Interesting Story

After seeing the new (to U.S.) Fit in a magazine, I decided I wanted to test 'Fit" it, having nixed the 6 spd Accord & Civic Si because of cost/premium fuel use only. I went from May-November '06, attempting to find one to no avail, as they were selling as fast as they came in. I spent a lot of time on the Honda interactive Fit website!! My work involves travel and I would stop at every Honda dealership. I finally found one in Savannah, Ga that had been ordered, but the salesman let me sit in it, and I was hooked. I contacted my credit union car sales rep, and arranged a test drive in Gainesville, Ga. I specifically wanted a VBP 5MT, but the salesman said that if I was willing to settle for any color/transmission, I could have the next one (Black) in. As this was my first new car purchase, I told him that I was NOT willing to "settle", and that I would wait for as long as it took. They emailed Honda of North America and ordered one VBP 5MT out of the dealer allotment for the southeast region of the U.S. and had it shipped to Atlanta. They delivered it to my credit union and I took delivery on 12 March 2007.
'07 VBP Sport 5MT w/ minor appearance & comfort mods!!
