Question Fast Shift to 2nd?

In my 2010 Fit, it seems like I get the smoothest shift to 2nd if after the clutch pedal comes back up from the shift to 1st, I quickly press the clutch down again, shift to 2nd and quickly release the clutch. Anything wrong with this method? Am I doing any damage to the synchros?

you will wear your syncro's faster if you abruptly enter the 2nd gate.

you shouldn't have to shift that fast. in fact my 1-2 shifter movement is pretty gentle and slow for most driving. when im driving spiritedly like at WOT i will quickly shift into the 2nd gear gate but 99% of the time, even with spirited driving things are pretty calm, smooth (key), and gentle.

Romulus, from how I understood what you said, I'm pretty sure what you are doing is called double clutching. It's a technique used amongst truck drivers and vehicles (from the past) that don't have syncro's.

I've read that it will prolong the life of the syncro's. I don't have first hand experience though.

I haven't noticed an increase in shifting smoothness when I double clutch. As stated by kenchan, take it easy when shifting and you're good to go.
