the prices dealers are quoting me on the 2007 fit (17k) and 2006 civic (18k) are about the same price as a 2006 subaru impreza wagon. so i went and had a test drive of the impreza!

if honda wants to drive people away to the competition, i must say they are doing a good job of it.
Bani, you have been bad mouthing Fit's in here for a couple of months, why? Don't you have anything to do? Give it a break.

That's very interesting. Thanks for the input.

If you've heard this before, sorry for the rehash...Since I moved to Bangkok in 2000, I have been planning what car to buy when I return. I've had all the candidates up on the wallpaper at one stage or another. This is the land of Jazz. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting one, and I really think it's the best car for me, but as I will be returning to the U.S. carless, I can't wait months for a ride.

Bottom line (and I almost hate to say this, but...): If Honda hasn't adjusted the output, and made the exact Fit I want readily available - Sport MT in Storm Silver (blue or white will also be acceptable, but the trim and tranny are non-negotiable), I will be heading to the Mazda shop. December is still six months away, and I am keeping my fingers crossed, but what I see in this forum is not encouraging.

Cheers

Exclamation hiroko12

Hey..... don't be prepotent... It is a fact that the fit has won the comparos, but that doesn't mean that either the versa or the yaris are crap, by the way , they are great cars, it is just a matter of what are you looking for, and the versa, is alot more car than the yaris, just not as sporty as the Fit.

me too

I've been having problems myself getting a manual fit. We tried 5 different dealers in CA and had problems with all of them either selling cars from under us, them not following up, etc. We recently moved to Nevada and have looked into a couple dealers here and they aren't being very helpful. We walked into one and told them what the CA dealers were quoting us for price and the guy just said well we aren't going any lower and left us to think about it. We haven't received the typical treatment of trying to keep us at the dealership and working a deal. It was a 5 min thing of this is our price take it or leave it. At this point we are also looking at the Mazda 3 5-door and subaru wagon as mentioned a few posts up. It's rediculous how dealerships are acting. As for the mention of civics in CA and NV even the civics are hard to come by. From what we have been told the fit is on back order for about 3-4 months and the civics about 1-2 weeks depending on which version you want. It's just crazy that honda didn't think these cars would sell. Chances are they will lose our buisness.

i had the same problem like yours before i got my fit. none of the CA dealerships and salesmen were knowledgeable or possessing good/right service attitude of their products.
i canceled my ordered Fit which was quoted for MSRP, and got it from a very helpful and service-oriented salesman for $300 more. no regret, he was great and i was willing to let him earn these extra cash rather than let some a$$holes got my money and wasting my time waiting for empty promises with no follow-ups and high key or high balling me by throwing some stupid lo-jack system so they can ask for another $1000 to $2000 over a $15000 1.5 liter car.
i had seen the worst salemenship in honda dealership, 90% of them are a$$.

My last two cars I bought from an auto broker. It was worth a fairly insignificant extra amount of money to avoid the entire dealer thing. Especially with the last one. Everything was done for me, and he delivered the car to my work during lunch. I just had to sign the forms, hand him a check, and we were done. I may have to give him a call when I get closer to purchase time...

yeah, because its such a massive accomplishment selling out when youre only shipping an average of 3 fits per dealer per month. color me impressed.
