I'm not sure if it's everywhere or just California, but in Cali if you go to an Arco, chances are you're also walking into an AmPm. And it's the AmPm that makes most of the money. That's why you see/hear AmPm commercials, not Arco commercials. That's why they have like 20 different sodas at the fountain. It costs them about 3 cents to fill a 32oz soda and they charge you like $1.19 for it. The company hopes when you buy they're gas, you're also buying sodas and snacks at the same time.

P.S. Chevron with Techron FTW!!

The only way that different brands of gas can be accurately compared for mileage is to drive a vehicle under identical conditions, e.g., on the same roads at the same speeds for the same distances with the same tire pressure and atmospheric conditions using the same throttle and rpm pattern and accessories each and every time the vehicle is driven.
And we all know that's impossible to do, because driving in the real world involves constantly varying conditions, e.g., speeds, distances traveled, traffic patterns, road grades/surface conditions, headwinds, tailwinds, hot/warm/cool/cold ambient temperatures, dry/humid ambient air, tire pressures, and different gas pedal/air cond./electrical accessory usage patterns, just to name a few.
Also, E10 gas decreases gas mileage.
Even mounting the vehicle on a dyno will not produce accurate results because of varying ambient conditions.
