I never got such an email either, and I have an account for both my Acura and my Honda. I wonder if the notice went out to specific accounts only that they know have been compromised?

Honda did not make full disclosures of the extent of the security breach
I had an installment loan with Honda and never received any notification. It turns out, my account was compromised. The address on my account was changed to a PO Box in Port Barre Louisiana in 2008. My account statements were being mailed to that address for over 2 years. I didn't know because my bills are automatically paid through my bank. I actually disputed the address which showed up on my credit reports through Equifax in 2008. Equifax didn't investigate it by contacting Honda. In fact, every time I disputed the address, Equifax claimed the address was deleted (meaning they contacted the furnishers of the address...Honda) and deleted the address. As it turns out, Equifax never contacted Honda at all...as I discovered in early 2011 right after I filed suit against Equifax. Equifax continued to say the address was deleted and re-inserted the address each time they claimed to have deleted it...last time was June 2012. When I contacted Honda based on discovering Honda was reporting the address using my Experian credit report, Honda pretended to have no idea how my address got changed. Anyway, I believe Honda essentially mislead and/or didn't contact many people affected by their security breach. If I didn't have automatic pay, my account would have gone into collection and possible re-possession...and my credit would have damaged in the process. I believe creditors and CRAs like Equifax are in on this stuff together....Equifax for getting credit monitoring revenue due to apparent identity theft and creditors for extra fees they can collect for late payments and repossessions to include legal costs. After contacting Honda to have my address changed back to the only address they had in their records (my valid address), I quickly paid off my balance to close the account. But this didn't stop Equifax from continuously re-inserting the address. I'd suggest everyone contacted by Honda check your credit reports from all credit reporting agencies and contact Honda to see if your address has or was ever changed.
