150 and 200 hp CRZ's
Its not the hp but the hp (really torque) per pound that gets lower 0-60 times. A CRZ without the batteries and pushing with 200 hp certainly should get sub 6 second times. My 2200 lb 180 hp CRX SiR easily does, in fact, more like 5.5 seconds.
but you do have a point about the weight savings... how much do those batteries weight? 200lbs? basically 0.1 sec improvement per 100lbs.
Good point. I suspect the weight between 100 and 200 lb but really have no idea. I think the CRZ could easily break 6 seconds weighing about 2400 lb and with 200 hp.
yeah I see your point. It seems like honda is falling behind in the performance in comparison to other makes. Also what is the pricing on the top model cr-z and how much more would a "beefed up" model at to the current price?
If we have to make two shifts (1-2, 2-3) that will really hurt 0-60 times like in the Fit. Even with 200hp.
Maybe they will give this one IRS like the old Si's that tripod around corners like a little terrier taking a leak on a fire hydrant.
The HONDATA reflash that is part of the KWSC high boost package resets the rev limiter to activate at 7100 RPM and that is at about 62 MPH in second gear... For some reason mine revs to 7200.
Perhaps you could compare with the S2000, which is now discontinued but legal in the US. Could it be the S2000 is replaced by a 200 hp CRZ? Makes sense. It might be competitive in several SCCA, IMSA race classes.
The market for a 200 hp CRZ surely exceeds that of the S2000.

If I was young, dumb, with need for a practical car with more seats and doors I wouldn't be able to pass it up.... I'm old, still dumb, have a Fit that is fun and very practical..... If it is going to be a high performance two seater I am buying it is going to also have handle bars and less than four wheels.
