Buying Fit soon, suggestions?
Buying Fit soon, suggestions?
Hey guys,
I've contacted via the internet/e-mail around 5 local Honda dealers.
I've heard back from most of them w/ they're prices which aren't inflated. Now one dealer in Alantic City actually has a Fit Sport 5speed in stock! They are offering for me to come test drive it. I have an appointment to do so, and they also said if i'de like another color it would be no problem as they going to be getting them in regularlly so, if i had to wait it would not be a long wait.
Now, what should i do? i want a Blaze Orange Sport 5spd, they have Nighthawk Black Pearl in stock, should i just go w/ the black? Or should i wait an order the Orange? And should i put down a deposit to order it and what is a good deposit to put down so they know i'm serious? I don't want to loose the deposit if they can't get what i want though.
Should i check around and wait while i am doing buisness w/ this dealer aswell?
Suggestions?

Hmm. I dont know if it will be no problem getting the color you want quickly. That doesnt jive with the experiences I've heard. People are waiting like 3 months for the Fit they want. But they could be right.
Now for the color decision - I own the black sport 5spd. I've always loved black - the Fit looks great in this color. But if you really love the orange then wait for it. But make sure you really like it. Its a loud color and attracts attention. If thats what you want then go for it. It would be good to see it person if you havent already. I like the color but its not for me.
I dont have any personal experience with deposits but $500 is pretty standard. Make sure it is 100% refundable - in writing. And put it on a credit card.
Now in general, make sure what ever you decide in terms of contracts and such that are always happy about it. Dont compromise because you love the car so much. Go with your gut. If something seems a little off, give it a least a couple of hours to think about it. I've make mistakes by being tired and rushing too much. Make sure you understand every little detail of the contract/agreement.

The dealer sounds pretty good. If they're offering at MSRP, that's on par with the good dealership stories I've heard. Only heard about one or two people getting their Fits at just a hair below MSRP, but I have also heard a lot of dealerships are charging up to 1K more than MSRP.
Ask them to find out how long it would take to order and receive the car you want. If you can wait for exactly what you want, then I would recommend it, so you have no regrets.
I'm also dealing with an internet sales manager. Aside from having to tell her several times that I want the MANUAL transmission... it's been good so far. I just mailed her a deposit, and I'm awaiting news on the ETA of my Fit.

If they have one go drive it! From what I've heard dealers are getting what Honda gives them, and they can't order manuals. If this is a larger "volume dealer" type of dealer then you might be in really good shape. I only had to put $100.00 deposit down on mine, but it was almost 3 months before I got a color I wanted. If you want the Orange ask them to check what's coming in, they know ahead of time what model/trans/color's are incoming months in advance so ask them to look. The other option is, put the deposit down, the dealer does a Locate, and trades the black one that they have for the Orange one you want. Pretty painless. Trust me tho, actually finding a dealer with one on the lot that isn't sold, is the hard part
Good luck!
Good luck!
Well it is possible that your dealer is telling the truth, but if I had to guess I would say they are telling you what you want to hear to get your business. If they have one in the trim you like on the ground then that is a lot better than most people get. Seems like people are waiting months for specific trim/color combos, and orange seems to be one that has a wait.
If you want to try and wait I'd tell them to put it in writing that your maximum wait time is X weeks and then if they don't have it your deposit is refundable.

It would be quite surprising if they were really getting as many Fits as they say they are, and quickly?? Maybe some of the other people waiting months should visit them. I wouldn't settle for something that you don't want just becuase it is sitting on the lot. But you might be surprised. I origonally wanted a Vivid Blue pearl, but after seeing a Storm Silver sitting on the lot I changed my mind instantly. Just make sure you get everything in writing and the deposit is refundable just in case.
