How does OEM rear spoiler impact mileage
Just bought a 2011 Base Fit & am considering getting an OEM rear spoiler for appearane sake - rear end looks sort of naked without one IMO.
How does the OEM rear spoiler affect mpg?
Is there any rear spoiler that has been proven to increase Fit mpg?
Thanks!

Looking at Honda's specs for the sport 5MT vs the Base 5MT on fuel economy, I'd say the spoiler doesn't help or hurt economy. for some reason, on the auto, the base gets better economy than the sport (by 1MPG). Likely due to weight of the "extras" on the sport and the gearing of the auto.
I'd say there is no difference in economy. Many spoilers are designed for increased economy and not for down-force. In this case, I see little evidence to suggest either way.

Just like a plane cant fly at low speed, our spoilers are not doing much unless you are going at high speed all the time. You won't have any measureable difference in fuel usage with or without it. I think most spoilers for DD are designed for looks than anything else.
FYI. Here's an old thread addressing the same:
