First time buyer - Interested in the fit

i test drove a 2007 fit sport the other day and it was going for 14995 which seems to be the price of the others on the internet does anyone have any buying guides how much i should ask off or expecting to get off. the dealer said he could ask his boss to take off 1000. is there a rule of thumb how much i can get off the asking price? on the news the other day it says that used cars are in high demand, and it does seem like there is less out there.

how many miles did it have on it?
I don't know much about car prices, but a car thats 4 years old and only a couple thousand dollars cheaper than a brand new model, must have alot of extras or some really low miles.
I only paid around $16,800 for mine brand new with like 4 miles on it..but of course i don't keep up on book values for used ones.
*edit: if mine is worth that much when the 2012 models arrive, i may just trade mine in

I think I'd consider selling my 2009 for $15K if Honda still made the MT with Navi. 40,000 miles, mostly rural interstates. I bet you could get a new one for just a bit more.

Cheers.

My '07 sold in Crystal Lake for 10,999. That's w/ 93,500 miles on it.

If you're that close in price I personally would say to buy new. I know there are several differences between the chassis, but the changes they made to the new one were fixes to every complaint I had about my '07.

If its anything like the 2010 model, you can ask for MT w/NAVI. When I was shopping around, I mentioned some interest in an MT w/NAVI, the dealer offered to get it for me, even though Honda didn't officially make that trim anymore. I think, it becomes a build to order. Most people buy cars that have already been assembled, but dealers can request specific trims/factory options.

I would bet that every 2009 Sport Mt Navi was built to order. There were quite a few of us on the forum in the fall of 2009 who tried to find MT Sports with Navi. Many dealers claimed to have them but they were phantom cars. We all ordered and they were built as a batch around the US Thanksgiving holiday in 2009. We all took delivery in mid-January or so.

Given my experience at the time, I would be skeptical about the possibility of ordering a MT with Navi now. If anyone has been able to get one, I'd love to know about it.

Cheers.

You should be able to get a nice car for that. Take is from someone who has made a few ar-buying mistakes: If $14K is your limit, stick to it.

Best wishes. Enjoy the hunt.

I'm shocked at the asking prices of used Fits. I have the 07 MT sport with 58K and it looks like I may have been able to drive this car for 4 years for less than a grand a year depriciation! Some sources say less that $500 a year. We plan to give this one to our son as a college grad gift in two years and buy another.
