Anybody getting over 60MPG?
#22
I've only done it a few times in the wifes fit. All highway, 330 miles from St. Louis to Chicago and over half a tank left. Our best milage was 63MPG and worst was 57, with me driving, semi hypermiling in Sport mode and no cruise control. I usually just let the pump stop after the first click.
I just keep reading about 30-40MPG averages and was curious if anyone else is getting these kind of numbers out of their fits? The car is an 07 Sport A/T. Just over 50k right now but our first trip up there with it had 27k when we purchased it.
Btw this isn't just straight through all highway driving, this is with a few stops for food and several stop lights and all using mobil 1 gasoline.

I was coming back form Tahoe to salt Lake with the wind in my favor, my iphone app showed 51.40 mpg based on fill up, but the computer only showed high 30's. Has anyone seen the fit gauge be that far off? That's by far the best I've done.

depending on how u drive will get ur mpg higher on the screen. also downhill and/or uphill roads are in effect too. but first u have to reset ur trip meter.
i got that 48.6 mpg from driving 60-65 mph for 40 mins straight. uphill and downhill included.

Broke the 40mpg mark. 100% freeway driving for 18 miles.
Gas light lit up so I fueled before heading home. Gas station is less than a mile from the freeway. I actually got to 42.8mpg but then I got hit by traffic I don't know how accurate this 42.8mpg is, but my mpg gauge is usually off by +/- 1mpg when compared to hand calculations. It rarely goes over +/- 2mpg except for my very first fill up with 82 miles on the odometer; the guage was off by -3mpg.

meters on our dashboard are not as accurate as ppl think they are. if u want accurate readings u have to calculate urself.
i would help but i cant bcuz im not a mathmatician. lol..
i do know that honda fits average 32-34 mpg from my experience and maybe even 36 and above if u drive slow on locals and/or on the highway/freeway.

Yeah, it's pretty tough to calculate it yourself, because you have to "divide" one number "by another." It's so hard, they don't teach it until fourth grade. And forget about the calculator; they don't teach THAT until 9th, so if you want to do it quickly you gotta be real smart.
Uh, a genie typed the above, sorry. Anyway, moving on. To calculate MPG you start the odo when you fill up, then when you fill up again you note the miles driven and divide that by the gallons put in the tank (which is what you burnt over those miles). Dat iz mpg.

This past weekend, filled up in Palm Beach, drove to the Keys, past Marathon, drove around a bit, gas gauge was just over 1/2. filled up in Key Largo, 4.7 gal @ 212 miles...45.1 MPG....gauge avg was 44.5, with a/c ...lmao, did 70-75 on turnpike, speed limit in Keys

Have gotten 48 and above on 7 different tanks (28 fills since we bought the car). Lifetime average sitting at 43.68 with a bunch of ~37mpg tanks during the winter before we learned to drive it correctly w/ Ultragauge installed. 54 mpg was the highest, but I think something is holding the car back. Driven "normally" the car fails to get even 40 on the highway.
All tanks calculated manually at fill-up, base model does not have a display.
Car has 142k miles and another coilpack approaching it's twilight years. After some fiddling I am hoping for even better mileage next summer. Oh, and did I mention my wife drives the car 95% of the time??

I used to get 63 mpg all the time.
Whoops I forgot this is about The Honda fit. That was back when I owned a Honda CRX HF. Those were the good old days. I could get 57 mpg even driving 70 with the ac on. I loved that car. I once drove from Dallas to Houston for under 2 dollars. Houston had the cheapest gas in the country at the time.

my drive is mixed city hwy and country roads and im getting 39-40 with the a/c on criuse and in drive
i leave my house 8mi to freeway 45mph with red lights then 15mi of 65mph freeway then 6mi 45mph city driving then 35mi nonstop two lane hwy 60mph then 6mi county road 40mph i drive that twice a day
as much as i can with cruse on i have a 09 fit sport A/T stock
tonight on the way home im going to try sport mode and no criuse and see if the mpg goes up
oh and yes its about 70mi each way to work thats why i own a fit lol

Is the MPG average and realtime meters even remotely accurate? How do they work? i see my real time meter max out and stay there when i'm on the highway, but i assumed it was just a gimmick device. The avreage says 28mpg even though i already used half a tank within 150 miles.

There was a TSB for some (2009?) Fits where the milage meter was miscalibrated by quite a bit (15% or so). Other than that, there's no reason they both shouldn't be quite accurate; the engine computer knows how much fuel it has run through the injectors and how far the car has gone. (What it doesn't seem to have any idea about is the actual quantity of gas in the tank, probably because the gas gauge isn't computerized or the sender isn't entirely precise. This is also why it can't tell us how far until the gas runs out.)

The funny thing is that it does. I can get the fuel level reading on my UltraGauge, so the ECU knows it. They just decided to not include that DTE feature, whoever knows why.... But mine is a base , so I don't get the standard MPG meter anyways.
