Anybody getting over 60MPG?

I've only done it a few times in the wifes fit. All highway, 330 miles from St. Louis to Chicago and over half a tank left. Our best milage was 63MPG and worst was 57, with me driving, semi hypermiling in Sport mode and no cruise control. I usually just let the pump stop after the first click.

I just keep reading about 30-40MPG averages and was curious if anyone else is getting these kind of numbers out of their fits? The car is an 07 Sport A/T. Just over 50k right now but our first trip up there with it had 27k when we purchased it.

Btw this isn't just straight through all highway driving, this is with a few stops for food and several stop lights and all using mobil 1 gasoline.

I'm thinking you saw a momentary 60mpg - hard to believe any Fit would sustain that.

Wow, don't think that's possible. If you don't mind recalculating your mpg would be great, to make sure... Haven't heard or read 60+ before.

The best gas mileage on my 2008 fit was 39 mpg, mostly on freeway from Reno, NV to Bay Area...coming down the mountain in neutral helped i'm sure.

I got 42.2mpg on our trip from Cincinnati to Grand Rapids in mid July and I was trying my best at hypermiling....
Unless your trip is down hill both ways with a nice gust of wind pushing you I can't imagine achieving 60mpg?!

My best MPG is 56 mpg with stock wheels/tires. I took a 378 miles trip with one gas of tank (calculated).

378 miles on a tank =/= 56 mpg.

And OP: I doubt your claim as well.

378 miles /6.75 gal = 56 mpg. 55 M/H speed with no hypermiling.

My best miles / tank is 514 miles.

I still find that near impossible to believe, but I don't really care, so I'll take it no further.

Actually, I did not believe it when I got above 50 mpg at the first time. However, I can get above 50+ mpg when I take a long trip.

I got worst mpg in city driving since I switched to 18" wheels. Hightway mpg is almost the same as stock wheels.

Hey FM, staying @ constant 55 takes a lot of discipline in itself. U Da Man. I know I can't do it!

Sometime I just wanted to prove that it can be done or not? There are a lot of parameters involve, for example, tire pressure, up/down hills or flat, time of the day, traffic, altitude, wind, etc. Florida turnpike is the ideal. It almost flat.

I get 36+ mpg (highway) on my Civic Si but the average is 31+ mpg.

Sorry guys been crazy working. The only way I have to calculate gas milage is dividing my miles by gallons it takes to fill it up to the first click. I drive between 55-60 with no cruise control, slow going up hills, keep steady throttle position and keep it in sport mode in 5th gear so it never downshifts on me. That's all I do and I constantly get 55mpg or up on this trip.

I actually switched cars with my fiancé for the past week and she's been driving my gas guzzler Element lol. My commute is 10 miles highway and 3.5 miles in city stop and go traffic each way. I drove 357 miles on my last tank, filled up yesterday and was full @ 8.9 gallons.

The weather was pretty nice last week so I didn't have to use any air which helps. I really want to buy a fit of my own, looked at an 08 base 5 speed a few weeks ago but the pedal arrangment to me felt cramp as driving her automatic is already uncomfortable. The rpms on the highway seemed much higher than the autos cruising between 60-70 so I may go with an auto Sport model like hers.

Your "real" MPG based on the 357 miles/8.9 gallons is 40.1 mpg and I'm sure the OBC isn't showing an average of 55 mpg. Going slow on the freeway (55-60) isn't going to bump your mileage from 40 mpg like most of us get on the freeway to a 15 mpg increase, not even with a stick which is "rated" at 33mpg compared to 35 mpg on the freeway with the 5AT (not that any of us 5AT guys have ever gotten as low as 35 mpg on the freeway when driving normal)

To date my best mpg was 43 mpg going from Detroit to Chicago, with the stock tires/wheels going 70 mph, cruize on in the right lane, passing only when needed.

mpg

I am a new Fit owner. The car is a 2008 Sport automatic with around 57,000. The best I can manage on my car is 30 mpg. Currently, I am getting 28-29. Would a K&N air filter help at all? Also, I am needing to purchase tires. I want some that will go good in the snow, but are low rolling resistance. I live in TN so the winters are not that bad, but still want something good when needed. Any suggestions? I really like this car. If I could get better mileage I would love it.

The 07 Fit has no on board display to show milage. And yes I'm aware that I ONLY got 40mpg in mixed driving with sitting in rush hour traffic. I hyper mile my ass off, lots of coasting. Maybe your drive isn't as easy as the one from STL to Chicago. I don't know what to say other than I've made it 330 miles to Chicago with over half a tank left. I know the bottom half of the tank doesn't last as long, on my 357 mile tank last I went roughly 250-260 on the first half of the tank.
