Fit first impressions / help buying?

Hey! I hope I'm posting in the right place. If I end up getting a fit, I'm sure I'll learn how to navigate these forums right...

I've been in the market for a new car for a while now, ever since I decided fixing the CRX should be a last option for me. I first posted on this forum asking about the color of Ray's fit, Vivian, because I ended up painting my CRX that color. Thanks for the help guys, the CRX looks beautiful. Check it out here: CRX Community Forum • View topic - CrxMusix's De-Rice/Restoration Thread

Anyways, the CRX is bust, so don't tell me to fix it. If I decide to, I will.

I've been interested in the fit for MANY reasons, and now I may be able to get the money for one. I am going to need a Manual Transmission, because I want one, and I'd prefer a 1st gen. My Fit needs to be less than 15k. Sport is great, but whatever. I love the Silver ones!

DAMN they are hard to find these days... For a Honda at least.

Let me get to the point - I test drove a 2010 Fit Sport. It was red. Before I started it up, I checked out the back area and the rear seats. The Interior is great. I'm a drummer, and a cyclist, so having all of that room seems to be amazing! It really is "small from the outside and big from the inside."

Here's the thing when I started it up - it wasn't fun. This came as a surprise to me, and really disappointed me. I know I'm used to a CRX, and granted mine had a D16Y8 swap, but still, the Fit felt weak. I felt like Acceleration wasn't there like a fun little car, and it just felt like a "cushy" ride. I'm sure after owning a fit for a few months, I'd get into putting an HKS Hi-Power exhaust, and a CAI or just a DIY intake, and some suspension, but until then, I want to enjoy driving my car here in the mountains, and I want a car quick enough to have fun with.

What gives? Was I just not giving it enough gas? The Paddle shifters weren't for me either.

Should I keep looking into a Fit? I don't need a really FAST car, I need a fun one. Acceleration > Top Speed for me if that gives you a better idea. Mini Cooper S's are fun Hatchbacks (I know, my dad has owned 2), can a Fit be fun?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, the fit is underpowered but that is not the reason for the car. It's a more of a city car, tons of space , saves gas. On the bright side the fit is fun as hell even for a stock car. Although it is slightly underpowered by most car enthusiasts there are many mod supporters out there that will give you what you need. I love the fit because it is zippy. I don't need a lot of power and the fit is just right.
