Questions Before Buying

I drive about 100 miles per day average.
Will it be too tiring to have the manual transmission?
I drive about 60/40 highway/city.

My friend has the automatic and he said it's a bit choppy in terms of power/acceleration.

Also, a dealer quoted me $19,900 for an Auto w/nav but I have to drive 4 hrs to and 4 hrs back from the dealer. Is this a good price?

He's basically giving me the auto+nav for the price of manual sport (plus dest, tax and fees) for a total of $19,900 drive off price.

However he did mention that the fees (title, registration, fees) is $740.
Is that too high? or should I just let that one slip by since he is cutting the price anyway.

It's the end of the month and I'm sure those Fit Sport w/navi is not selling well due to the price tag.

So my main concern is the convenience of having an automatic and let someone drive my car during long trips or in case of emergencies, and resale value (automatic will probably sell better or higher at trade in or private sale)
I plan to keep it for 3 years after logging in over 100k miles.

My speculation is, the navi is really not an incentive at resale since by then, better technology will probably be available.

Any input would be appreciated.

IMHO, the manual Fit is a much different car than the auto. My wife wanted me to get the automatic, but after test driving it, I knew I'd never be happy with it. The manual is just peppier.

As for resale value, I'm not sure you'll take that much of a hit on the stick. They seem to be hard to find now, and are in pretty high demand based upon the posts I see here.

As for the price, almost $20k seems awfully high to me, especially in N.C. Maybe in NY or CA. I paid $16,570 out the door for mine 2 years ago.

The AT trans will give you better gas mileage at freeway speeds. Fifth gear in the AT is a higher ratio than in the MT. This means lower engine RPM, higher gas mileage, and lower engine noise. It probably equals easier and faster used car sales if you secide to sell it later on. But, my comment is biased. I own a 2009 AT, live in the mountains, and only drive about 20% at freeway speeds. I average 32 mpg. I recently drove a 400 mile round trip over mountainous highways, led the parade over the steep passes, and got home with the usual 32 mpg. avferage. Buy the AT.

The offer was for an Auto Sport with Nav that sells right around 19K (not including tax, titles and fees). $19,900 quote is the drive off price. Basically he dropped the price to a Manual Sport level (with pre-negotiation fees) to come up with $19,900.

Anyway, that is irrelevant now. I'm not taking it. I think it was an age old bait and switch anyway. The catch is - if I drive that far, no way I'm coming back in the rental I left with. Because I asked for the Vortex blue Manual but he said that it's already locked in for an internet purchase (whatever). And up-selling me this sport/nav in vortex blue. Which is a bit high for my budget. I have other plans for my money (tint, HID, rubber mats, tail lights, golf clubs etc.).

I'm starting to like the Rasp Blue Metallic over the vortex blue, which is available at the local dealers.

I'm going for the AT. I think stomping on clutch can get really old if you drive 100 miles/day. And since I travel up and down the east coast about 4-5 times per year with my friends, I can take a break once in a while, since none of them drive MT.
