New Guy!

What's up everyone been lurking here a few days and decided to sign up. I just got a brand new 2012 Fit Sport MT 2 weeks ago (7 miles on the odo) and so far loving the car. Coming from a midsize v6 powered sedan AT (Maxima) to this car is really an adjustment so far. In the old car, I would just putter around town mostly in 2-3k rpm but this little thing really seems like it wants me to rev it up. I'm kind of reluctant right now since its still only got a few hundred miles on it and I want to take it easy. One thing though made me cry, I was going through the ez-pass toll booth one day left it in 4th and when I tried to accelerate forgot to downshift and lugged it pretty bad for a few seconds . Did I do too much long term damage?

Anyway, it's nice to see such an active community and members with a bunch of passion for this little car. It really is a great car, and absolutely loving the fuel economy i'm getting with it so far (30 mpg city).

Manual transmission seems hard to find. Got a 2012 Sport MT on June 1st so far 7,500 miles put on it in 2 and 1/2 months. Actually had to drive it to JFK a week after I got it. You should not have damage anything on your Fit.

My problem is I had a Miata with a short throw shifter so when I drive that, then the Fit I have the tendency to de-clutch too soon.

Welcome to the forum.

No, you did no long term (or any) damage to the car by lugging in 4th once.

And you say coming from a mid-sized V6 Maxima was a real adjustment? HA! This is what I came out of! And no I am not old! I just also happen to have a passion for large old cars as well and she was a beauty. I drove her for 6 years and she only had 88K miles on her when I traded her in. Here she is the day I brought her home at the rip old age of 15 years old.

And here I am trading her in...

Thanks for the assurances, it freaked me out a bit since it literally sounded as if there were marbles bouncing around in the cylinders when I lugged it.

hogwylde, i know what you mean. My first car was a 84 olds cutlass supreme that my dad handed down to me. Loved that car and wished i hadn't gotten rid of it, with nice wheels its semi-classic.
