My Fits name is Bellatrix.
Yeah, it's geeky. I named her after the Harry Potter character. She's a crystal black pearl...so she's dark, small, unpredictable and dangerous. I thought it fit.

I'd also say, I'm a man, and if I keep a vehicle for any length and time, and like them at all, I usually end up applying a name. The only one's I don't end up naming are the ones I never like and don't keep long.

I will also admit that the tradition of naming vehicles did start with my mother. She had a 1967 Mustang she called "Scout". The Scout came from "To Kill a Mockingbird".

It may be a little crazy...but if I like a vehicle...I name it.

When I need an official name for the car, it's "The Black Blob."

Most of the time, though, it's just "my car," rather than "my lawn tractor," "my mom's car," "my friend Chris's van," etc.

My first real introduction to naming cars came when a friend in college asked whether her newly-purchased car was a boy car or a girl car so she could give it an appropriate name.

Still haven't named my Airstream Interstate yet, much to the chagrin of Airstream owners everywhere, but I already have a name for my new Fit. Any vehicle towed behind a motorhome is called a "toad." Since I bought my Fit partly because it is towable behind my motorhome (or will be, shortly, after installation of the towing kit), the obvious name for mine is "Gama-San" which is Japanese for "Mr. Toad."

My kids named my Fit:
"MEEP!"

When I lock the doors, it sounds just like the "Meep!" character from Phineas and Ferb. When then all say "Meep!" as we walk away from the car. The simple joys in life...

When I first go it I tried to be a little original and give her a name. I never could come up with something useful so I just call her Fit.

But it`s a She. My old GMC Acadia was definitely a He.

My fit's name is River, named after two crazy and amazing characters from two different TV shows I love; River Tam from Firefly and River Song from Doctor Who. I originally wanted a blue fit for the Tardis comparisons, but River and her Blackberry Pearl worked out. ^_^
