The Sport has a welded rear stabilizer bar ,hidden in the transverse rear beam, which I don't think the Base has. JJ

LOL ,yeah ,dead thread, hey Subie, increased tire pressures on the left side by 3 pounds to compensate for gas and driver(200lbs) weight.Think I noticed an improvement in handling.JJ

Really? So you're running @ 35 psi?

36 when warm? Would that then be just under recommended pressure of 33 once it cools off? Cause if I recall from previous Googling, tires gain about 4 to 6 PSI when they warm up.

On top of that's I don't see how you are reasoning extra PSI for any side/corner... the springs are pretty going to soak it up. But whatever.

I said warm not hot, cold would be about 82 degrees ambient air in the morning, hot would be after 30 min drive and 85 degrees at noon. Actually when I checked the pressures in the morning they were at 34-35 so you could count on a 3 degree increase once they are hot.The 4 to 6 degree increase is to be taken with a grain of salt,it varies with tire size ,volume etc.I am experimenting with this, not re inventing the wheel, back in the 70's I used to race Autocross ,driving FIAT,BMW 2002's,the old Mini Cooper, and this was all for fun,and playing around with tire pressures stuck with me since then, so just try it if you like circuit racing like F1,, you'll understand my reason for all this tire pressure thing.

@jjsifo: i don't think different pressure between left and right is a good thing? unless you're the diligent type to always compensate the pressure whenever you got passengers. lol... i never tried running with different pressure left and right.. only front and back. gotta try it once and see whether it has any effect..

You are right, it may not be a good thing with passengers. Since 90% of the time I ride alone, I will have to keep that in mind when my wife is on the passenger seat, which changes my driving style drastically (we have no kids) but just so I don't hear a constant, "you are driving me crazy!!!!" my driving becomes very passive.Front and rear tire pressures were a big issue with my Accord with that heavy V6 up front.I really miss rear wheel drive ,but today almost all these "compacts" are FWD,except for the more expensive ones like the BMW M3,Mercedes, etc. which for me,are not affordable.thanks, JJ

Like K said, I have to admit I haven't done that variation either JJ. I've done the front/rear variation also. Interesting... Just thinking as you consume gas then the ride changes too...

Hey on another note, when you have your wife onboard, I thought that's what the radio SVC control was for...

Never tried left right variations either. May need to do that. Any recommended changes if I am hauling a few hundred pounds in the back for a 500mi roadtrip (each way)?

I generally run 35 or 36psi on 205/50r16 (or is it 55? Need to double check)

The Verdict

Ok Gents, just came back from a fairly normal drive and whatever's left of my brain and I have decided 3 additional pounds on the left side feels kind of weird, so now I left 1pound (negligible) on the left side extra. Now the setup is 40 on the left 39 on the right which when you think about it almost the same. Now, this is hot Goobers, not warm or cool,so the experiment is over for now.Subie, I have to try the SVC with the wife as a passenger although Like I said before I become very passive when she is on board. Thanks for the input everybody. JJ

Um? .... bleh.

My tires were 38 cold for a time (even 40 for part of my road trip)... now a little bit less since i haven't pumped any air lately. Gonna drop it down a bit more since I found more center wear on all four tires with a touch of outside wear (dang it, do I have to do negative camber to get even wear?).

The original topic is quite gone... perhaps there should be a thread about experiences (preferably) from the same person about equal PSI on all four tires vs differing front/rear vs differing left/right vs a total free-for-all.
