Question Loose tailgate pull pocket

I recently removed the back panel on my tailgate and I could not put the pull pocket back. Every time I try to stick it in it just keeps falling off. There doesn't appear to be anything broken. What am I doing wrong?

You sure you are not trying to put it in upside down?

Still not in? Can't see the clips in your pic but think they are not engaging.

Take the main piece off and insert the handle. Maybe that way you can help the clips engage from the rear. Then put the main panel back on.

Is there supposed to be a clip? There wasn't any when I took it off - perhaps someone else removed it?

This is the pull pocket for the tailgate.

You have a GD? I am talking about my GE. It has some clips that need to be depressed in order to get it off so they engage when pushing it back on.

What did you do to get it off?

You got that right, I have a GD. It just came off when I removed the back panel so I am not sure what was holding it in before I removed the panel ...

This is annoying in that no one else has responded.

What does the backside of the handle look like?

You are welcome.

It looks like in the first pic that there are 4 small tabs broken off where it shows white. It appears that those sections would be depressed when pushing it in and then snap up to hold it in place. The other side would have been inserted first then this side.

I guess a trip to a dealer to see a new one would help.

Thanks, I've been looking at that real close but it doesn't look like anything is broken/out of place. Hmmm.
