drive by wire??

I know drive by wire (electronic) as opposed to drive by cable is better for gas mileage, but from what I hear it hurts and hinders performance since you arent in direct control of the throttle

sometimes I feel little difference in acceleration as I gradually floor the gas pedal. I think that's due to the DBW. the good thing I noticed about DBW auto fits is that it upshifts whenever you abruptly let go of the gas... feels kinda like driving a manual

^ Agreed, I love it in stop-and-go traffic, since it slows you down faster when you let off the gas at slow speeds

it makes blipping slower. but what i HATE is when u shift, it keeps ur RPM at the position right befoore u clutched for like .2 seconds. this makes shifting slow. it takes a while longer than a normal car to drop the needle.

civic si does this too. edmunds.com did't like that on the si.

Ya I really notice it wile trying to rev match while down shifting. It is like it cuts the power in half when it is not in gear. you almost have to push the gas peddle half way down to get the same effect as taping the peddle on a cable set up.

Closing the throttle too suddenly causes your air/fuel ratio to become SUPER RICH, and thats bad for emissions. But I dont think its as bad for performance as you guys think it is, especially given that the fit is pretty quick for the type of car it is.

I have a base manual. It took me a couple of days to get used to it, but @ LOVE DBW. It's instant response. (I have over 4300 miles on my Fit).

Yeah the rev hang on the manual is a bit annoying, but I got used to it. Blipping for downshift seems easier though and more accurate. I definitely can do it smoother in the Fit than in my old xB w/ cable setup -- you can't even tell I downshifted it so smooth most of the time.

i hate it. It almost feels like the Tiptronic crap in my Acura with the rev hang. But i still love both cars.

DBW is an interesting thing, I'm by no stretch a hardcore car person, but I know people on my forum complain alot about the delay (some have even tried fixing it by adding rubber stops to move the pedal enough to give some edge .... ya) but I've had no complaints

The rev hang is the thing I notice the most, followed my bliping. But im starting to compensate for both as I drive it more.

I don't mind. in a CRX, if u're on fifth and want to speed up, floor the pedal. but it does feel inefficient. In a fit, you have to downshift.

I mean whats the point of gears if you dont' shift?

The biggest problem I have with DBW is its hard to blip, and the revs drop too slow when you upshift. It's also not smooth enough (yet) to prevent "kicking" when you press a gas pedal after any moment of not pressing it.
