Question Five days old and already a messed up bumper

I figured it was only a matter of time before I scratched or did something to my bumper since my I have a very cramped parking situation at work. Unfortunately it was sooner than I'd like! My neighbor had some people over and one of them parked pretty close to my driveway and I backed into her. I'm pretty disappointed in myself. We're not submitting it to insurance, but does anyone have an idea what kind of repair cost I'm looking at here? I'm sorry if this image is massive.

I'm guessing $3-400. How about just trying to straighten it yourself and leaving it as-is? Sounds like you're thinking it will happen again. No use in fixing if you're bound to scuff it up sooner or later.

It happens, at least it wasn't on metal where you would have to worry about other issues like rust. It doesn't look terrible, I'd probably leave it as is unless you have a super low deductible.

I suspect repair would consist of replacing the plastic bumper cover piece, possibly also entailing painting the replacement. It may be possible to patch it with fiberglass or something similar, but doing a good job would be a bit tricky. Normal Bondo would probably not hold up too well, as the plastic can and does flex more than the sheet metal parts of the body. The only real way to figure out how much a repair would cost is to go to a few places and request an estimate. (If you're handy and can find a replacement bumper cover in a junkyard of the right type and color, it is a pretty straightforward task to swap them yourself.)

Since this damage is neither a structural problem, nor a safety concern (the bumper is still perfectly capable of absorbing impacts as the crushable material behind the cover is still intact), nor a future corrosion problem, I'd probably try to un-dent it as best as I could and live with the results if this were to happen to my own Fit.

If you car color is Taffeta White, I have solution for you,
since I want to sell my Like New Condition rear bumper (Taffeta White) for only $350 local pick up in CA,
(or buyer pay the shipping fee if buyer want it shipped)
but since your car is NOT Taffeta White, then my bumper will not be economical since you still have to paint to match your car color...

but if you are thinking of fixing that bumper to body shop,
from what I read,
they will charge at least $250 to $350, depend on the body shop...

Strange looking bump is the bumper cut or dented? May not cost too much to fix if the area is small and just dented and not a lot of paint work, actually because the age of the car would seem not to need a lot of blending like older cars with paint work. Good luck.

You could try heating it up with a heat gun and forming it back to as straight as you can get it. Maybe even grab a bucket of ice water and a rag and as you get it straighter and straighter hold the rag to it right after...the sudden temp change will help to "freeze" it into whatever you could do with the heat gun.

I find the damage doesn't look so bad. Of course it looks worse if you take a close up shot but at a glance I'm sure it's not terrible. At least your paint is relatively intact. Scrapes on my alabaster silver are very obvious because of the contrast with the black bumper underneath.

I thought you said you backed into your neighbour's car? Isn't this the front bumper or does the GE have a rear tow hook hole also?

Maybe get a leather front mask. It will at least cover it and protect it from any new minor scratches

I know, my name is just too fitting! Most of my usernames are some variation of "smasher" 'cause back in the day I was mocking my high school boyfriend, lol. The dent really isn't that bad, I'm just so bummed it happened so early in my car's life. I'll get some quotes, but I'd rather put the money toward snow tires/wheels right now.
