Chinese Built "Fit" a possibility to meet US needs
I ordered my fit two months ago. I still have two months of waiting left. One BIG reason I bought it was because it was Japanese. Ive had a Mexican built Jetta for 8 years now and that car shows no signs of slowing down. However, had I gotten the choice of buying a German VW or a Mexican VW, I would have undoubtedly gone with the German one, and I'm Mexican!
If the Fit I ended up getting would be chinese, I would still keep it. However, given the option, I would rather have one thats built in Japan. Just because I like the thought of it.

It's certainly an option to allow China built FITs into the US.
It might cost more to make the FITs in the US or to increase Japan produced FITs to meet the big US demand.
In the end it might mean higher prices or get the China made FITs.
Since warranty is the same from Honda it doesn't really matter except who do you want to support?
The product design doesn't change when it's made in China.
