Question for Canadian Fit owners (2012+)

Hey Guys--

Quick general question for any Canadians on here who have a 2012/2013 Fit. Given that our Fits have been coming from China since 2012, have you personally noticed any quality issues compared to other Fits you might have experience with? Does it seem to be holding up well? I've look on other forums and I don't see anyone complaining, but I would lie if I said that it makes me a little squeamish.

Thanks.

Mother bought a 2013 Fit a couple months ago. Still brand new, no issues noticed with it so far. I know what you mean, it does scare me a little bit the newer fits made in China, older ones in Japan. If I noticed any quality issues on the 2013 Fit, which I haven't yet, I will be sure to let you know as I have been driving a 2007 Fit for 6 years now.

A flock of 14's landed at my dealer overnight. Every colour you can imagine. Looked pretty lined up end to end on the entrance.

'14s out already? Did they add any features for the final year of the GE?

I really did not know that Fits are Chinese made! I am going to buy one soon, preferably a fairly used one and the hubby has been looking through some used car parts and dealers to find me a nice one. I have driven Taesha’s (my cousin) Fit and it had no quality issues, since then I have been looking for one!

Owner since Feb 2013 no issues, running by 13000 KM, good to know about the rust issue, I'll check it after each winter, as someone else says, here in Canada they use Atomic Salt 'lol' to melt the ice and snow.

I will be honest with you. I have never rust proofed a car here in Canada every season. I snowboard to so my vehicles see a lot of snow. I do frequent car washes in the winter to ensure the salt and snow does not stay on my car. I have not had any issues to date, especially on my 2007 Fit. A couple small pin size rust spots. 3 tops. From small paint chips. Was under the car a month ago and she was clean as heck.

In Alberta, they use gravel and dirt rather than salt. I got over 50 chips on my hood from one winter season. Even my clear bra on the front bumper got penetrated in a couple spots. Car also gets dirty as hell. Underside is definitely not all that clean anymore sigh.

I need another car to be my winter beater lol...

Isn't that what a Fit is?

I had mine undercoated and wish I hadn't. Just made a mess under the hood. I still had some of those rust spots. After talking with my Service Tech I came home and sprayed them with Rustoleum. Problem solved.

Oh I lied in my previous post. They were not 14s but a mess of leftover 13s.
