Any issues with 2013 honda fit?
Hello, doing some research and possibly buying a new 2013 fit the dealer is supposedly clearing out at the end of this year. With the earlier year models, I found out transmission fluid should be replaced earlier than 60,000 miles to avoid issues. I also noticed some HVAC blower issues, but not too concerned as its a $200 do it yourself fix if that problem was to arise. Also colder starts don't start, which is a big concern for me since I live in some below freezing weather in the winter. Has all these issues been addressed for the 2013 models? Anything I should look out for? Thanks for the help!
I also have a 2012 with no problems whatsoever thus far. There were no mechanical changes made for the 2013 models, from what I understand.
Changing ATF before 60K miles is not a horrible idea, particularly if you do a lot of city driving or carry heavy loads or tow. I don't know that the change interval for manual transmission fluid is too much of a concern. On the other hand, I haven't heard of too many Fits with early transmission problems, so the prescribed service interval must be adequate for many people.
The blower motor issues have been resolved, to my understanding; and if they have not, dealers will generally replace it for free or at a reduced cost if you ask nicely, since it's a known problem with a service bulletin posted.
The starting problems on cold days are presumably due to worn out or discharged batteries, which would happen to any car. Keeping the battery properly charged will go a long ways towards avoiding such problems—either by taking long enough trips for the car to recharge it, or by hooking it to a float charger when parked. Avoiding deep battery discharges is probably about the single biggest thing one can do to prevent it from dying prematurely. (The Fit does have a pretty small battery, so it's perhaps a little more prone to battery problems than some other vehicles.)

Thanks guys for the valuable info!! It's come down to either the Fit Sport w/AT transmission or the 2014 Scion TC also with AT. Although the TC has much more HP, yet heavier, seems to have a solid fit, yet I'm leaning towards the Fit at the moment. I also need a more practical car coming from owning a Civic Si coupe for a few years.
My 2013 has been flawless except for a few things
Noisy valvetrain. At 21k miles the noise is still getting louder and more pronounced. A local dealership said its normal, but the noise did not even get quieter with fresh oil change.
The driver window switch. Every once in awhile the auto function puts the window nearly all the way up, then it drops it back down to a few inches from fully down. Usually a few times, then it works normal

My 2013 has only 1600miles no issues so far. Reliability should be no problem with this car, should run for hundred's of thousand of miles with normal wear and tear items being replaced. Ran into another Fit owner in parking lot had over 100000 miles no issues she said. The blower motor was not the issue but a $20 part, resistor. Can be changed in about 10 minutes under glove box if not under warranty. Not an issue. As to the poster who said his valve train keeps getting noisier. All Honda valve trains require valve adjustments after so many miles check owners manual. This is a normal procedure that should be done when car is being serviced if there is excessive noise front valve train. Honda usually requires it is done after so many miles check owners manual for exact mileage. Takes care of noise. Honda doesn't use hydraulic valve adjusters that don't require adjustment. My choice would be the Fit Sport Manual, a very engaging car to drive. Keep us posted on what you purchase.
I haven't had any problems either though I've had mine for 3 months and just ran over 1500 miles on the odometer too! I can't wait for my first oil change so I can put all amsoil in it like I did my other car.
Well guys, just purchased a 2013 Sport AT in Tafetta white. Just ordered some protective film for the foglights so far. Wanted to purchase the center console armrest, but I have a bag I can put my stuff in and the armrest on the seat is sufficient enough to not justify the $180. Is purchasing a cargo tray worth it? Thanks guys for all of your advices! I'm loving this car and glad I made this decision! This is the best Fit forum I've come across. There were a few other forums, but by far this one's the best unless I missed one?
Alpine, Congrats on your purchase! You made a wise choice. The car will grow on you the more you drive it. I like the white in this car very sharp. The cargo tray is nice so people can not see what you have in the hatch. Well worth it. Good luck with it.

I just think this Fit is the loudest by FAR that Ive ever delt with. I dont think Ive been lucky and gotten good valvetrain all these years.
I do think Honda needs to switch over to HLAs for us. All they need to maintain proper life is good quality oil and frequent changes to keep those HLAs quiet as a mouse
