tight exhaust valve lash.....
okay honda,
why are the fits.....arriving from the factory with tight...(OOS) out of spec, valve lash.
and the idea that a hard tappet valve train gets noisy as it wears in is a misnomer......somebody goofed writing that up in the owner & service manuals.
my 09 at 57K were about .004-.005 out of spec on the exhaust side...the side that should be at spec or loose to avoid burnt valves.
i'm checking my son's 013 at his second oil change instead of waitng like with my 09.
car runs smoother, shifts better and the mileage has improved.
valve train gets quiet as it wears in. the clearences tighten! my advice for fit owners not to wait for the 100K valve adjustment...
.check valve lash at your second oil change and every 30K there after.....
just sayin....

i promised i'd report about feedback from honda about the FIT having TIGHT exhaust valves from the factory.
this saturday received a introductory letter from Bruce T. Smith, SVP parts, service & technical division. basically introducing a survey they wanted me to fill out about my problems???? told them their Q.C. needs to be checked with FITs being delivered to customers with exhaust valves WAY outa specs.....and that the factory suggested 100K valave service should be changed to 24K first and every 50k afterward....will be in the out mail monday......we'll see.....
