There's modding a car for your personal enjoyment and then doing things that impair the safety/enjoyment of others.

If someone installs HID's in stock reflector housings, guess what, they're messing with my ability to enjoy a drive and get home safely.

-Do I care if people lower their cars on to the ground? Nope.
-Stretch tires on aggressive wheels? Nope.
-Make it produce 100 dB at idle? Nope...so long as they don't pass my house between 11 pm and 8 am.
-Make it capable of 1xxx whp? Nope.
-Make it stop faster than Romain Grosjean running into a wall? Nope.

But I can't justify improving my driving experience at the expense of everyone else's.

Strech tires is super unsafe yet your ok with that. A loud radio in the car next to you makes you not able to hear a emergency vehicle. Once again im just playing Devil's advocate here because i dont really car what people do. Just like if a guy is walking behind me down stairs with his shoe untied i dont turn around and say ". You are putting my life indanger here please tie you shoe. I feel like all these safty junkies on here really dont know much about cars or the "tuning world". I feel like you people dont like something personaly or it drives you nuts and then just say "do you know thats not legal.I do agree with hids needing to be in a projector housing but. Id rather have some one pass me with a hid kit over there brights on.

Maybe it's that they really do know a lot about cars and they know some of this stuff is unsafe and why?

For instance, stretching tires:
I don't mind stretched tires, UP TO A POINT. When you start trying to put 165s on 9" wheels, that's what pisses me off. If you're going to do that, please just do it for car shows.

HIDs in stock housings:
What is the point? The light is so scattered and useless you'd be better off getting some good halogens. There's a guy with an Accord on my street with HIDs in stock housings and he always has to turn his brights on at night coming up the street because there's not many street lights

as long as posters or their cars dont cross into my personal space i dont really mind it.

for example driving on stretched tires isnt really smart, but keep distance from me and you're good.
loud stereo's. have fun with it but not with me near by. etc.

If you are going to talk what's legal and illegal, you should get your facts straight. Ie plate thread.

As for law abiding citizens and their cars. I dunno bro, I have no comment. Kinda on your side OP.

I post a question about plate covers with frames then someone tries to tell me they are illegal. Anyone can read the law, but do you know the intended meaning of the law and how it should be interpreted is the true question.

Was looking for help. Wasn't looking to teach someone legal studies 101.

Couldn't agree more. But you need to get your facts straight before trying to help. It's useless to help someone if you do not know what you are alkaline about.

My car doesn't start, would you recommend it's the tranny? Or would you suggest a battery, ignition coil, starter, etc?

It helps to have knowledgable information and not just shoot of the cuff.

But I couldn't agree more with you bro.

I have a rear plate cover on all my cars its clear not tinted. No front plate ever and I never got messed with. Only on the front plate and its a fix it ticket. My whole car is tinted even windshield no problem its light i think 20 or 30 percent. My wife has 15 on our tiguan and never been messed with. Its all illegal i think but i like it and ill pay the fix it tickets. Also my little daughter can look out the window on a sunny day and not cry. That by it self is worth at least 1000$ In tickets hahah

I have a licence plate frame that slightly hides the province and the provincial motto so I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Never had a cop bother me about it. I was gonna try to mod it with my dremel tool but I don wanna mess it up! If I get a warning I'll for sure do it but most cops in Quebec aren't hard asses. They just start dishing out tickets at the end of the month to meet their "quotas".

Plus I was told by CAA (Canadian AAA) on inspection that my rear tint is not legal because I would have to get a cutout in the tint for the 3rd brake light. At one point I think it's really splitting hairs. However, a fellow Fit owner did get a ticket for having an aftermarket exhaust, and he claims it wasn't loud at all...

You can get a ticket for crossing the road when the "hand" is up. I can go on all day about tickets you can get on the road that you never see. Why, because its a waste of time to write the ticket. However, you'll always get that one POS Police Officer that'll bust your balls, ie exhaust ticket guy that wasn't even loud.

At the end of the day its the facts and knowledge that matter.

Would you self diagnose yourself with no knowledge? or would you go to a doctor? "I have a lump in the back of my neck, must be cancer right" oh wait after coming back from the doctor it was determined it was a muscle not and I needed it massaged out.
