Maintenance & upgrade advice wanted
Hi all,
I have a 2008 Fit base MT (GD3). It's about 92k miles and I'm experiencing a few problems:
1) The clutch is starting to slip. I have heard really good things about the Exedy Stage 1 Organic clutch kit, and I am pretty sure that's the replacement I'll be getting. My question is whether I should also get a new flywheel (if so, which one?) or have the tech resurface the one that's already in there? To give you an idea of driving conditions/style, this will be for daily driving with frequent stop and go traffic conditions, occasional cross country road trips, and I don't tend to accelerate/shift hard though I love the way my '89 BMW 525 shifted. Thoughts?
2) While the tech is installing my new clutch (and maybe flywheel), is there anything else that I should have him work on, since the engine will be out? I've read on the forums that there's a rear main seal/gasket that could use replacing, as long as the engine is out? Anything else?
3) The car tends to stall when I first start to drive it. I'll be at a stop sign, and it'll just putter out. Or I'll be driving and it'll putter out. After >15 years of driving a stick, and >6 years with my Fit, I don't think it's me who's stalling the engine. From reading the forums, this sounds like it's a valve adjustment that is needed?
4) The airbag warning light is always on now. I'm going to ask my tech to scan the system with his diagnostic tool to try and pinpoint what is going on, but any thoughts about stuff I should look out for so I don't get fleeced?
Thanks!
