Is my new Fit totaled?

I was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon. No fault put on me or the person who decided to run me off the road (and in to a cable barrier). This is my first experience with all of this so I'm really just wondering what you all think and if you have any advice. Still kind of in shock...

The car is a 2013 Fit Sport. I purchased it brand new in January and had just crossed 4000 miles before the wreck. I've got collision/comprehensive as well as gap coverage. I'm in SC and the law here lists that the repairs have to be at least 75% of the value to be a total loss.

She's done, unfortunately.

Frame damage seems very likely.

Glad to hear that you're okay! Amazing that the airbags didn't deploy, apparently the deceleration forces were absorbed by the cable barrier. Unfortunately, it looks like its done for. Good luck and best wishes on acquiring your replacement Fit!

I am a damage appraiser for our public insurance where i live, we call cars like this an obvious total loss.
Cars can be replaced, glad nobody was hurt

The car is definitely totaled. For one thing, if the car were to be repaired, it wouldn't drive like a new car, even if the frame were "straightened" and "computer aligned" to its specs. It would eventually warp over time and go out of whack. I'm glad you weren't hurt. Hopefully, you'll find a new 2014 Fit with everything you like on it.

Ugh, I'm so sorry, and thankful you're ok. I started a thread here a few weeks ago about my recent wreck. It was about 2.5 days later when I started feeling neck and back pain, and have been seeing a chiropractor since, which has been so helpful. The car stuff, well, I'm in TN, so its the same in this state as far as the 75% damage costs being called a total loss. My car didn't look this bad, though, but its a process either way. I'm very glad to read that you got the gap insurance!

And if you're in a rental - get the insurance. I didn't, and a rogue wheel flying across the interstate hit the front end, and I'm trying to repair it myself before returning it. I didn't want to pay $17 per day for that insurance, but I wish I had... now I'm once again a nervous driver.

So sad to see this happened to your Fit but at least you are OK. Looks pretty bad to me. Hope you get it all worked out and back on the road in your new ride soon.

I've got a rental now but passed on the insurance. My adjuster should let me know what the verdict is on Monday. The shop told me that if they rule in favor of repairs, it'll take a minimum of 3-4 weeks to complete it.

What was the verdict in your case? Total loss?

I still have not heard back from the collision repair shop. They have had it for a week. The repairs were estimated at $7K before the collision shop even got it, so it would take about $5K more to total it. Time will tell, I guess.

Mine was $9000 in damages, as I found out this morning. The frame was not touched, thankfully. I don't see how your frame would have been missed, though. Be happy that there are still 2013s out there to buy, if that's what you want to do. Glad you got the GAP coverage.

Just a follow up:

Progressive considered my car a total loss. The dealership that I bought it from helped me get back in another 2013 Fit Sport quickly. Polished metal metallic instead of milano red this time!

Congratulations!

Congratulations on the quick turn around! Good to hear that Progressive moves so quickly! Now the "new car" enjoyment & familiarization can begin all over again!! LOL!

Note to self: if a red 2013 Fit shows up on Craigslist in a few months at and incredible price but a salvage title...
