Agree. I should have said "adjust the term of coverage". As my cars get older, I raise the deductible a little. When they turn into a beater, I usually drop collision.


You are correct about having a good umbrella policy. People sue for crazy stuff these days looking for their "big payday" so they don't have to work no more.

We had the same problem with our fit. State farm increased it 75 bucks or so. So we switched to progressive and it was around 80 a month. That was our 3rd time switching and we never even got a ticket or a claim on the fit with any of the companies.

I read a newspaper article that one of the big insurance companies, I forget which one, was under scrutiny for excessive premiums that were claimed to be part of the advanced formula for premium costs.
