Gift Ideas For a New Fit Owner

Hi there,

My girlfriend recently bought a 2014 Honda Fit DX and I must say, I'm surprised at how much I like the car!
Seeing that she has the base model, I'd like to get her some accessories for Christmas this year.

My first thought was to get power locks installed, but after researching and speaking with my local mechanic, it's a lot more work than I'd like to undertake.

So, I'm hoping that you guys can give me some ideas on some good additions/accessories for the Fit.
I'm going to get the cargo net for the trunk to secure groceries/whatever else is back there.
The only other downfall I can think of is the lack of a driver's seat arm-rest or a high enough centre console to act as an arm rest. Anything I can add to address that would be great.

Any suggestions/thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Rain-X her windshield for her.

You're up north, so get her a tiny snow shovel. I always had a full size shovel in the back of my car, but a real one won't fit in the back of a Fit. A small one with a telescoping handle cost about $10 at the grocery store. Try to find one that matches the car's color, and a matching ice scraper/snow brush will complete the set.

I could consider looking for a wrecked Fit of the same colour and try and get a good deal on the rear spoiler. Unless the rear spoiler was actually struck or damaged, it should be in great condition and it is basically a bolt on mod that requires no drilling. I'm pretty sure the holes are already there to accept the two screws for the spoiler. Pimp that ride! Also, the Fit looks retarded without at least a spoiler IMO.

If not, an UltraGauge is great! I can't live without mine and has plenty of neat meters and gauges. I personally like to monitor my battery voltage and engine temperature among other things. It's neat to be able to know instantly how your driving impacts MPG. Also warns you of trouble codes, should they ever pop up.

Another great addition is an elemmat. Elemmat - The Elemmat is a full mat that protects the entire back section of the car when the seats are folded down. Probably my most valued mod. One piece fits in the trunk permanently and the other can be laid across the back. It's nice for carrying potentially dirty items for a quick clean up. It's laser cut to fit the exact contours of the car so it looks OEM for sure!

Clazzio seats are absolutely great also but are pricey. About 400$ when all is said and done. If you order custom stitching (like me) it can take about 12-14 weeks to get your order!

If you want to get a shovel. Costco makes little telescoping ones that are great. They are like 15$ and come in packs of two. The only problem is that in Montreal, snow clearing is terrible so I pack a full size shovel in my Fit so I don't break my back every time I park.

Weathertech mats are great in Canada. Check 'em out

The most important accessory you can buy her (she's in Canada, I'm assuming) is a good set of studded winter tires on steel rims. I was given a set two winters ago. Best accessory I've ever had!

Another great accessory would be a clearbra. It's clear vinyl, goes over the hood, front bumper, and on the fronts of the mirrors (I think you can put it on the front of the fenders, too). I'm constantly touching up my hood, and I'm wishing I had one. The only way you know it's there is if you look closely (or the car's a bit dirty).

How about Honda or WeatherTech rubber floor mats? At least they won't hurt as much when she hits you on the head with them for not getting her jewelry.

But you're probably not waking up for a while after you tell her it was that or a clearbra.

I can offer a suggestion for the arm rest. I got a set of Elbow Friend Automotive Midnight Black
by Elbow Friend - $19.95 + shipping (around $5.00). Check Amazon

My Honda dealer's parts guy said he thought the Honda cargo net was not too useful. I have been considering a cargo organizer: Rola 59000 M.O.V.E. Rigid-Base Interior Organizer (25" x 15"). Check Amazon.

I haven't purchased that last item, but I'm thinking about it. Reviews look pretty good. Cheers!
