fit spec racing

Hello my name is Derrick or you can call me Big D. I was wondering would anybody be interested in getting together a racing series for the FIT, either through SCCA or NASA. Or does somebody all ready have it in the plans. They have one for the ford focus through NASA. I think that it would be very cool. I love rally racing and touring car racing. I think the FIT would do great. Have a stock class and a suped up class, and a engine swap class for those that feel they need to. IT just an idea, let me know if anybody would be interested. I can research it more. Thanks Big D

There are not enough people willing to gut a brand new car to make race cars yet. Give it another 10 yrs or so (see Spec Miata).

You could always run the car in NASA Honda Challenge series in H4.

Since the FIT is rather new in the US, we have to start somewhere.

It might be a start to encourage drivers to compete in SCCA Solo H-stock class events since that requires NO effort throughout the country.

Miatas are plentiful and very popular in many classes at Solo events.
But not all regions have spec Miata races.

Stock classes don't have to make the cars into track only vehicles.
Daily drivers are welcome and encouraged. Rules set the limits and keep things fair for competitors.

Another idea is to form local FIT clubs that compete as a group- give it a cool name like "fastFIT Racing" or "FITfreak Racing". Compete against each other within a class, dominate it and show people that the FIT is capable.

Drivers respect the Miata for this reason.

Get Honda to sponsor events- this drums up interest in their vehicles and Honda is big into motorsports anyway.

i like the idea of this...but for some finding more FITs and people that are willing to do it will be a task. The time needed is when there are more FITs around...i speak mainly of my area
