Freakin' rattles!!!

Hi everyone.

I've had my fit since May, and it's got 6000 miles on it. I live in a paved area, and never drive on dirt roads. I avoid potholes, and except for expansion joints, I haven't hit really rough pavement. My fit rattles. A lot.

First. The drivers door. Two rattles. One is the squeaking of the rubber gasket on the door jam- tried silicone several times, and although better, not gone.

Second- drivers door. Rattle sound like either something hard on metal, or on the bottom of the glass. Not sure what to do with this one. I am going to order Damplifier and Rattlepad from Second Skin Audio, and do both front doors, because... the passenger door just started the same thing!!

3rd- see above.

4th- Rear hatch floor. I thought it was the MDF cover edges bouncing on the plastic trim beneath it . It was partly that, but turns out is was mostly the plastic trim under the MDF panel on the metal body beneath that. Fixed that one with plenty of hardward store foam weatherstripping.

5th. Dash rattles times two. One sounds like it's from the center of the dash about where the SRS passenger cover meets the rest of the dash. Pressed on it, no better though.

The other dash rattle I'm gonna kill though. It's coming from the right side of the dash- sounds like its just behind the passenger dash vent. This one resonates sometimes at about 2300 rpms, and always on road expansion joints. Fortunately, if you remove the glove box, you can get all the way up to the bottom of the dash. Now I just need to find some poor soul to drive the right road while I look and feel for vibrations under there.

This sucks. But I still love the car. I just would have expected a little better from Honda. Oh, if you are wondering, I drive like a Sunday driver usually, and baby the car. I get 37-40mpg usually, lowest was 32mpg- 80mph with AC for hours into a headwind.

In case any of you have already solved these, I'd love to know about it!!! Thanks.

Oh... where to you get the Teflon dry sprays?

I know how annoying a rattle can be so I understand your fustration. The only rattles I've experienced in 3,000 sMiles are my water bottle in the front over sized cup holder bouncing around, and my keys hitting the dash.

My first step would be to make an appointment with your dealer. Often it can be a screw which needs tightening and the dealer should know where to look so that all loose screws get tightened.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you fix the rattles.

See my post in Fit inside area. I'm taking mine in for the 3rd time tomorrow morning and taking a tech for a test drive to show him. Not only does left side rattle now, its like the middle right side.
Oh, and my windows vibrate a weird sound when the base goes. Not the normal rattle either bleh
