Selling my Fit:

Forgot to mention that im only looking for local buyers................
anyways...my brother-in-law will be buying the car. We will be going to the dealership this weekend and do the transfer...the mofo is getting a real good deal...im out 6g's in just over 3months. (my $4500down payment + 3 payments of $349 + $1100 in accesories). He will just continue with the monthly payments.
BUYING THE FIT WAS THE BIGGEST PURCHASE MISTAKE I MADE(rattles, transmission clunks and jerks, brakes suspicious, gas swooshing during stop/go, the bad gas milage-22mpg etc.. )

first if the car is so bad why sell it to a family member??? Second why sell it for 11k when you should be able to get within a couple grand of msrp and minimize you losses? Something funny here.

How can you not like the fit? what car did u ever like? the reason i like the fit is b/c of the attention to detail the designers put into it.

Interesting to hear about another Fit freak or Ex Fit freak anyway that complains about gas milage. I have taken my foot off the pedal a bit and still mixed driving is 25.7 or less. On the highway the Fit is great. But the advertised is not happening.

just had a long talk with my brother this morning...and he convinced me not to sell it. just because of the $$$ i'll be losing. he works for an acura dealership. He said only if our in-law gives me $3000 as part of the deal...other wise he said i might as well let my wife drive the car. W'ell see what my brother in-law says about that.........he is such a cheap mofo, that i dont think he'll go for it. i'll let you guys know

My first question is what kind of % reate did you get to be stuck with a $349 a month payment after giving $4500 as a down payment... Sounds like a very high intrest loan.
Next is why havent you involved Honda in repairing your car under warranty. There is no reason not to get them involved unless the car has been modded/crached and repaired.
Before giving up on the car and knocking what is a great car see if you cant resolve this at the dealer...

A Fit Sport in Canada costs $25,000 CAD after taxes for most provinces. 6k off works out to around 19k CAD, which is equal to 17k USD.

How can these things he's mentioned be repaired?
Swooshing gas, rattles? My Fit rattles on occasion when driving over certain pavements and at certain speeds...no way would I expect the dealer to 'fix' this unless it became pervasive.

Brakes either work or they don't...if they're suspicious, agreed, get them serviced. Same w/ the transmission. The AT in the Fit is geared steeply and when car slows down it re-engages 1st and sometimes does feeling like it is lunging slightly....I think this is normal.

It sounds like he is complaining about overall car personality adding up to something he didn't expect, where most of these things are characteristic of the Fit.

I just have to ask. The gas swooshing sound. Is it comming from the front ? If the sound is coming from the front check the coolant since it will make a swooshing sound if the coolant in the engine is low.

Found that out after intalling the block heater. It must have had an air pocket. I added some coolant and let the car cool down to suck it back into the system and the sound went away.

It's worth a shot.

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLY GUYS...
Its just that i'ved expected more for a 22thousand dollar car(cdn funds)especially for honda. btw...interest rate is 6.9%. my brother advised me on getting the civic before i purchased the fit. pymts. were very similar and i probably would be getting better gas milage. oh well, we'll see how it goes...

Ok, like I said it was worth a shot. I wish you the best.

Jeez, just went out to the car to get something and bunced the car a little when I sat down and swoosh. Now I know what you're talking about. Wonder why I never noticed it before. Very interesting. Sure hope I don't start noticing that all the time or it will be an irritation for sure.

Youre stupid if youre just going to call him a bastard for not offering any kind of compensation. That is the point you should say "screw you" and sell it to someone who will pay good money for the car.

That is what understood from reading in your comments...funny, since the US price is 15-16.5K, my expectations are low, and so it isn't suprising that I'm very happy w/ the car....I guess it all depends on where you're coming from!
