Show me your rack
Feel free to post pics of the female variety but what I'm really talking about is roof racks.
Show me your roof rack system and tell me a little bit about it. I recently purchased my system from various sources (including a member of this forum) and I am quite happy with it. It adds even more storage to an already cavernous storage area and I even think it adds some styling as well.
I was a bit concerned about going with the Rola basket (because I was unable to see the build quality in person) but I was really glad that I did. It is built really solid and holds 150 lbs of cargo. It has a matte black stippled texture and I think it will hold up well to the elements and the hazards on the road. It has so far and I've had it on my car since Sept.
I purchased a used Thule fit kit # 1465 off of a member of this forum ($50), the 50" Thule square cross bars -used- #LB50 off of someone on craigslist ($50), the Thule Traverse 480 mounting bracket -new- on ebay ($150), the Rola Vortex Roof basket off of Walmart -new- ($150) and the Thule cargo net -new- #692 off of Ebay ($15)
I am really happy with everything.
All together it cost me $415.
Compare that to what a similar set up would cost you from Thule brand new:
Thule SquareBar 50"
Sku number : LB50 $99.95
Thule Traverse 480
Sku number : 480 $199.95
KIT1465 For 480 and 480R Foot Packs only
Sku number : KIT1465 $94.95
Thule Canyon 859
Sku number : 859 $299.95
Thule Stretch Cargo Net 692
Sku number : 692 $39.95
Subtotal $734.75

Rola Roof rack. Bought used on ebay, but it was in open-box, new condition. I love it! I'm pretty sure there's already an official roof rack thread that's why you can hear the crickets in here. Anyways, I thought i'd support your attempt
