I'm looking for a roof rack: most likely a thule or yakima base system. Does anyone out there have a roof rack that they look for any special reasons? What is better? I'm just looking for some general ideas on where i want to get started with the search.

When I was researching this, there were some reports about Yakima systems breaking loose and causing quite a bit of damage. Of course there's no solid evidence that Thule is better, but at least there weren't any reports of failure. I do think the Thule kit is better customized for the shape of the Fit.


I bought a used Thule 400xt kit on Craigslist and used it to transport my kayak this summer. No issues at all...just took it off this weekend, in fact...no damage to the finish at all.

Im getting rid of it because i bought a jeep with the rack already on it. It comes with everything you need to install it plus the fairing, which is the black plate on the front that says thule. I can send it preassembled if you want. And i have no idea what shipping will be but im assuming less than 50 depending on where you live. Ill take it to the post office tomorrow and see if they can give me an estimate. I just need to know if youre serious and what your address is
