A must read!!!

I just ordered a set of General Altimax RT43's for the Fit!

I can only assume I'll be able to run faster and jump higher once they're installed!

.....back to our regularly scheduled programming.

That's the tire I'm going with. Did you go stock size or 205?

I went stock. I'm a fan at keeping things OEM as much as I can.

I can't believe the great reviews they got and with such a low price. Got a set of 4 for $311. I'm assuming they will be delivered some time this week.

Nice! Where'd you get them for that price? Is that a shipped price?

$72.86 on giga-tires.com
$75.99 on tirebuyer.com
$74.00 on tires-easy.com

For the first gen's 195-55-15. I'm not seeing any shipping deals out there, but they do pop up from time to time, as do website rebate offers and manufacturer rebates. I see that Walmart also carries these tires, so you may want to check there since their installation charges are reasonable. Local Discount Tire stores will also "beat" anyone's price. I have them on my Fit and have been very pleased with their wear.

Edit: $80.99 on simpletire.com and that does include shipping (free); so that's essentially $32 (total) for shipping 4 tires above giga-tires.com's price; which is pretty good I guess.

Edit #2: discounttiredirect.com has them for $72.35 and that includes shipping (free). I can only find it in the 195-60-15 size however, so you would have to call them up and find out why the 195-55-15s are not listed.......assuming you are talking about tires for the first gen.

I ordered them at TireRack and $311 was the shipped price but of course, they were about to ship the wrong size (175/65/15) so after the order was corrected, the shipped price became $389.

I paid a little more than another FitFreak user mentioned advertised elsewhere but still much less than I could get from a local retailer. Next time I will pick them up in person and save the delivery charge.

The bottom line though is that I am just thrilled that I will have new tires!

I'll save the links and wish I would have seen this before ordering. But in regards to the 195/55/15's.....I need a 185/55/16's.

LOL OK, $389 is inline with what I found. When you posted $311, I was like "WHERE!!!?"

haha that's cool that it has that replacement tire monitor in the middle there. How does it work? I'm assuming that once you can't read the text, it's time to replace?

I have a tire depth gauge so I use that, and there are still wear bars as well plus the good ol' penny test.

The Replacement Tire Monitor will disappear and "Replace Tire" will appear.

I have an appointment set up for next Thursday night to have them put on. Cannot wait, especially after all the reviews I have read.

Awesome. Let us know your feelings on the new tires after you've put some miles on them. I'm personally interested on your take.

I am particularly interested to know if they are quieter (or transmit less road noise) than the OEM. Thanks

Yes, after two years, they are still quiet. Again, the wear (or lack thereof) has also been impressive. They also performed well in the one winter we had with them; lots of snow that year. I can't compare them to whatever the OEM tire was given that I bought the car with 94,000 miles from the original owner. Those tires, whatever they were, were long gone by the time I got the car.
