Just wanted to share the images of my tires at 70 000 miles.
I drive a mix of city (about 20 %) and 80 % highway.

I keep them inflated to 35 psi.
I am usually the only one in the car.

I think the biggest two factors that made them last are:

1. The car is mostly parked in the parking structure shielding them from the California sun.
2. I am easy on the brakes, in turns, and in acceleration.


There is a bit of dry rot. I already bought the replacements: Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 in 185/55/16 stock size. All four cost me only $198 from Amazon using $50 off for signing up for Amazon card (which I promptly cancelled after collecting the $50).

Had a great experience with these stock Dunlops.

 

Good job! That's a lot of miles on a set of tires.

How long before the tire shamers descend on this thread...?

 

By the way, I took the pictures while rotating them 24000 miles since the previous rotation.
During the service life, two of the tires had nails through them but I took care of them before the tires lost any air.

Just came back from a round trip from California to Alabama and back (through Colorado).

Total mileage on the stock Dunlops is now over 76000 (I did replace the front ones 2000 miles ago) so the rears get replaced tomorrow or during the week.

Still not down to wear bars, but lots of dry cracking. Had the alignment checked and all was in spec (except left rear which has been slightly toed in since the purchase).

Replaced with new Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2.

Original Dunlop SP 7000 turned out to be pretty darn good tires. Of course I drive conservatively. Your mileage may vary.

 

I've got almost 40k on my oem Firestone tires. Hardly any wear on them at all. I also drive mostly hwy (90-95%) so maybe in the next 1.5 years, I may be able to top your record. We shall see ...

 

I would say that's a pretty big amount of wear vs when you should replace them, but that's outstanding for 70K miles! Must be those baby-smooth CA roads

Actually I gotta modify the first statement, and it's related to the second. If you never see snow, maybe that amount of tread is just fine.

 

It's all about acceleration, braking, and how hard you take corners. Having low weight and good alignment helps. Roads here are varied, but I guess nothing too crazy.
