Let Me Share My Stupidity!
Well...
Not a big deal, but the other day, I was doing some laundry. I put a load into the Dryer, and heard a knocking sound. Stopped the dryer and looked for something that might be causing that sound. I did not see anything. I restarted the dryer and it seemed OK...so I left.
40 minutes later and I return and start to unload the dryer.
Guess what was causing the knocking?
My Honda Fit Key Fob...which I evidently forgot to remove from the pants pocket. Which means it went through an entire wash cycle and a complete dryer cycle.
Now (knock on wood) here's the so far lucky thing.
A: The Fob Looks Great. Hasn't looked so clean, shiny and new since I bought the vehicle. I see no cracks or visible damage.
B: Maybe I was lucky because I had the fob in one of those silicone key fob covers. Which I highly recommend. But I opened the fob, and it seemed perfectly dry, I think the cover probably helped keep water out...and also probably protected the fob during the tumbling dryer cycle.
Just to be sure or help, I took the opportunity to replace the battery.
I have to report thus far, despite my stupidity, the fob looks great, and is functioning perfectly. I may of gotten lucky and dodged a bullet.
If I start to have problems in a week or so?
Well the moral of the story is check your pockets...before doing the laundry, AND that mysterious knocking sound the dryer is making...isn't something wrong with the dryer.

No....
While I have to admit...the fob looks great. And a week later? Still appears to be working fine.
I somehow dodged a bullet. Pure luck.
I do think the silicone cover may of helped keep water out.
And the size of the load of laundry...may of helped minimize potential tumble damage.
But I would in no way recommend anyone embracing my stupidity by choice.
I got lucky. But in general, water, detergent, a spin cycle, followed by high heat and tumbling has got to be a recipe for a shortened fob life.
