Secret Street Drag at Race City! CIVIC vs. FIT

Has anyone taken their Fit to the strip in town? If so, what were your times? AT/MT?

I've almost totally convinced my buddy with a 2006 Civic EX to race me one Friday night this summer. He just ordered an Injen CAI for his car and its a 5spd. My Fit is a 5spd as well.

Who do you think will win?!??!?!

He's never ran at the track, but I've got a bit of experience, I've been there 3 times when i had my 2000 civic SiR. I didn't think I'd ever want to track a Honda Fit, but I think it would be fun. I think he has the total edge since his car has every advantage pretty much in every category (except weight)... check it out

2006 Honda Civic EX R18A

140hp @ 6300rpm
128ft lbs @ 4300rpm
Curb weight - 2742lbs
205/55R16 Eagle RSA

Tested (best results I could find on the net for each car in stock config):
8.18s 0-60mph
16.44s ¼ mile time
86.7mph ¼ mile speed

Performance Mods:
Injen CAI

2007 Honda Fit Sport L15A

109hp @ 5800rpm
105ft lbs @ 4800rpm
Curb weight - 2477lbs
195/55R15 Bridgestone Turanza EL41

Tested (best results I could find on the net for each car in stock config):
8.3s 0-60mph
16.73s ¼ mile time
80.82mph ¼ mile speed

Performance Mods:
T1R Carbon Intake
T1R V2 Voltage Stabilizer
Greddy Ti-C Axleback
Tanabe GF210 Springs
Enkei RPF1 15" 9.5lb rims

He doesn't know any better, but on the day of the race, i'm gonna take out the seats, spare tire etc... to remove as much weight as possible to give myself a chance!

I think the specs are pretty close especially with my mods... if its pretty close power wise, it'll come down to driver skill..

lol, sounds like weight reduction is your friend right now Any chance you are going to get your lightweight wheels on before the race?

Lol.. yep.. you can't really ever expect to run what the numbers say.. we are at a higher elevation so you can easily tack on 1 second to the overall time..

My 2000 si-r was rated at 15.9 in the US.. but my very first run ever was a 17.1... about 15 passes later I brought it down to 16.3.. my best pass was a 16.1.. and that was with a blown motor about 2/3s the way down the track! I was on a 65hp nitrous shot.

Mannnnn I might have to come down and see these Fits run the 1/4 mile just for fun! MB we need to get a Fit outing where we can race against one another on Friday night Lets do this sometime in July...hopefully Ill have my SS in and installed. YeeFit think you can give me a hand? I'm sure some of the other guys will be interested in making some runs other than us

Oh yeah, what are the requirements for secret street? Helmet? etc?

Yup, SS is short shifter! Ordered the Mugen one, should be coming sometime by the end of this month hehehehe

You guys think I'll run better times if I put the stock rims back on since I'm going down two inches?

depends on the grip factor... you'll hook up better with your 17s but accelerate faster with the 15s

lol, you should put little tiny 35 profile tires on your 15's then you will rocket off the line... hmmm not too sure what your top speed will be through
