Eco Rebate

Eco Rebate
Just a heads up for you guys Honda West just called me and all 2008 MT Fits are getting the 1000$ off eco rebate from the gouvernment.
I know 2007 models were not on the list because of the 0.1L difference but the 2008's are.
Looks like my new Fit will be even cheaper only 3 more weeks of wait...

lol no guys last year the fit had a combined city/highway rating of 6.6L per 100kms
this year they took it down to 6.5L which makes it eligible for a 1000$ eco rebate. Engine size is the same :P
last year the fit was not eligible but to compete with Toyota and the Yaris Honda offered the rebate. Now it's on the gouvernment eligibility list.

The Honda Benefit
07 got eco $1000 as well. and when i bought my 08, the 08 fit wasn't on the list yet, now i need to get that $1000 back myself from the government.

I am happy because when they worked out my deal last week, this was not part of it and 2 different dealerships told me they were not offering the eco rebate on the fit at that time.

Damn wish I hadn't promised the wife I wouldn't mod this one
My guess is the Fit was rated at 7.3 city and 5.8 highway and that gave a combined rating of 6.62L per 100kms. Honda whined a lot last year because they missed by that little so the gouvernment gave in this year.
The r18 MT civic both sedan and coupe is on the list for 2008 as well and I am sure those are over 6.5L per 100 as well :P

Better hurry, the EcoProgram is ending
Well all goodish things do end, the rebate program for Canadians ends at the turn of this year. So, you all have until December 31, 2008 to get in on the act.
I got a cheque today, been waiting since October 15th, 2007.
CANOE -- CNEWS - Canada: Ottawa sent millions of cheques for scrapped clean-car rebate

There is a number to call for information on your "file". All they can do is confirm the application has been made and arrived at their office. They told me it was 4-6 weeks until I had a letter in my mailbox indicating the "decision". Very government indeed. I assume they reject more than a few applications, missed names, numbers, etc. Some will need to reapply, others will forget or be ground down by the process and leave it until it is too late. Like all government programs they will find a way to slow down the process, stuff up the deal, shaft the person getting the rebate, etc.
Frankly I would have rather had a cheque from the dealer, like Honda did in 2007 as Honda missed out on the rebate program by a hair. Certain some heads at Honda rolled as a result.
I am thinking the rebate program has been pumped up to get these cheques in the mail as there is a backlog. I would go with the timeframe they have given, with luck your cheque is "in the mail". Now all you need to do is decide if it goes to the RRSP or winter tires for next year.

I have the 07 and got the rebate from Honda Canada. I agree... too bad they didn't give the rebate retroactively... how sweet it would be... $1000 from Honda and then another $1000 from the government... ahhh... wishful thinking!

you need your vin number and since it will be registered to honda US it won't work. You also need your dealerships paperwork about the lease or finance info and they'll clearly see that the dealership is not in Canada.
