its been a while but in Cali i think its 93 or 95 decibels

 

If u really really wanna make sure that u won't get hassled, keep stock cat & use a dual chambered muffler(non-N1 style). I only get hassled once in Richmond long long time ago when I had my SiR coupe. I was running a N1 style muffler & cop gave me a ticket for using single chambered muffler. Not VI or anything, didn't have to put back to stock & show it to an officer.

Then I started using a SPOON N1 axleback with ITR b pipe & test pipe. Drove side by side with cops MANY MANY times. Noooooooo problem.

 

I had an insanely loud 4Runner with full custom dual exhaust. it was SO loud, that ppl could hear me form a block and a half away. No joke! I never got hassled by the cops at all and i lived in Richmond.

 

And our car are never as loud as those modified WRX/STi with big a$$ turbo & exhaust anyway
