How come you guys are getting better fuel average?
yeah, that's why I am curious about it too.
my new FIT got 400km on its first tank of gas, before I buy the FIT
everyone is telling me how fuel efficient it is.....
my 2006 BMW 323i can do better than the FIT
I am not a crazy racing type of driver and I drive normally like everyone else mostly city driving

Did a trip to Seattle Premium Outlets on Saturday. Filled up premuim gas on returtn at Chevron Premium Oultets (tank was Quarter)

Have driven once to north van (On Sunday, no traffic) and few local trips in richmond.

Needle is at half tank and odometer is at 240Km

Better avereage this time may be for the highway driving and or Premium Grade of fuel.

on my last tank, I got around 480km out of it. But I live Downtown and travel to kits a lot so the hills and stop and go might have a lot to do with it....

My last tank was the best tank since owning the fit. I got 671 km out of it and still has about 3 litres left. I drive from richmond to richmond and back on work days (lights are kind), and 2 to 3 times a week from richmond to brentwood in north burnaby. I think i've never shifted above 3.5k RPM on this tank.
I usually avoid rush hour when heading across the bridge.
The worst tank I've gotten was 570 km.

First pic was taken at home, and last pic right after filling up at the gas station.

hmm. prob late on the forum to bump it back up. but i was always curious about that number for 1/100km. so i got a few questions. does AT transmission inflate this number as well? i have a 2010 GE i got back in march. only recently started paying att. to the fuel consumpt. (coz i never understood it as most fitfreak topics on this were the US mileage 35/38 mpg thing) anyways. mine reads at 9.1 i do 95% city/5% hwy (my fit is a commuter, work to home is usually trips to VGH and back to east van area, and i hit traffic in downtown 3 days out of the week.) i'm near empty so i'll do a fuel up and see what my numbers get..

Most of the 09s fuel consumption meters is "optimistic" meaning it will show better mileage than it actually is. I think honda corrected that problem with the late 09 models. Yours is a 2010, so yours should be accurate. All its saying is that you're using 9.1 L to travel a distance of 100 km. Depending on ur driving style and where you drive (hills vs flats / traffic and lights vs. no stop and go) the fits fuel econ can fluctuate by A LOT. Some ppl can't even get 500 km per tank whereas my best tank was over 700 km.

I drive 80% city and on my first tank I averaged 450 km. My screen said 6.9. Not bad. I just filled it with premium gas rather than regular so we will see it that helps out. I have herd that it make a big difference and you get more km to the tank!

Angry

Hi all,
I am to new to Fit Freak.
I am having the similar bad fuel consumption problem.
My 09 Fit (Auto) has only been on highway no more then 500km in total as I am remembering this right. All this time, I am driving it between Vancouver and Burnaby working and weekend shopping in Richmond. I have only seen my Avg. shows 7.7l/km couple time over one year and three month and the rest of time showing 9.8 to 8.8. My driving is mix of fast and slow; up and down the same hill five to six day a week. One tank of gas usually can reach ~430km.

I have asking the dealer what could be the problem. Their standard answer were every car built a bit different and your Fit may need some more mileage before reach its optimum performance condition.

I am thinking by the time my Fit reach its optimum performance condition (if it could turn out better) may need a year or more. All the warranty will expired by that time and all the problem will not be the deal's problem but my wallet's problem.

Thanks you all Fit Freaks, if you are reading this thread to the end, you could feel how Mad I am . 7.1l/km in city?? What a joke.

After posting this for a minute... I just realized blackvitzrs's Fit is just unbelievably good. If my fit can reach an average of 500 to 550km per tank, I am happy already.

Ha, just noticed that! Maybe they can tell us what a real winter is like in the Fit... Maybe thats where the 7L/km figure came from, combined City/Highway economy with chains in 2ft of snow?

I guess if not because of the 7.1 L/KM joke. I will not become a Freak but a happy Fit owner just driving with smile.

its normal. winter driving gets much worst fuel economy. on the meter, mine always read around 5.3 in the summer and now it's reading at least 5.8 to 6.0. The meter is optimistic, so i'm getting around 7L/100Km now in reality.

If someone driving a Fit with chains on 2 ft of snow every winter, he or she is unbelievably skillful. Driving condition like this isn't a good thing for any small car and you are laughing...?? I wonder why?

I believed your Fit is a standard right?

I talked to another Fit (standard) owner on a road. He has 7 something in average which sound OK to me. I means Honda didn't lie on their ad.

I am glad I have a GD-3 because that meter stuff can be way off.. I fill to the top of the filler neck and divide the distance driven by the amount of fuel I put in... What the hell kind of vehicle that can legally be driven on the street is best suited to driving in 2 feet of snow anyway?
