Vancouver area. Fluids. Where and what.

I'm around due for my first manual transmission fluid change. My next oil change is comin up too. I normally have just gone to Honda for my oil changes, but wondering where all you guys go for your engine and tranny oil changes? What brands do you use and why?

Not a discussion of what's better. Just seeing what people are using.

Can't say yet what I'll be using... my Fit is still 'new' and hasn't had her first oil change yet.

I'll most likely go to the dealer for the first oil change, but I'm not sure which dealer to go to. I always had good experiences with Westwood Honda, but it's been quite a few years since I was there last.

I typically ALWAYS take my Honda's to Garage Five out in Richmond. They aren't close to me, but they're worth the hour drive to go see them.

When in doubt, you can't go wrong using OEM. I've noticed that a lot of car type shops (Can Tire, etc) don't always have 0W20 on the shelves. But I know places like Garage Five can order them for you no prob.

I'll more than likely switch to Amsoil when the time comes, as that's what I've run in all my other cars, and the price is usually fairly reasonable for a full synthetic.

True. I'm sure Honda makes some pretty good stuff. For engine oil, it's what I've been using for years on my fit and when I had my civic. The tranny fluid I don't know much about. A friend of mine used to work for Honda and said they use pretty basic fluid in the transmissions of their new cars and if you change it to somethin different, the gear lever might have a bit nicer feel. Now I'm not sure if the stuff that comes in the transmission when new is the same as what they change it with or if the dealers carry any other brands. Might be somethin I could ask about though.

My brother's got a shop in Richmond and he's been always doing different sorta work on my car. I do my own engine oil change, tire rotation & front brakes but he does the complicated stuff.

Engine oil wise I use Motul 8100 5w30 with OEM oil filter & transmission fluid wise I used Motul Motylgear 10w40.

I'm heading into Honda tomorrow for an A12 service + Brake Fluid and Transmission fluid change I shouldn't really have to change the tranny fluid till 60k from what I've read but I'm going to do it now... (44000km)

I've always used Honda for service both here and in Montreal, no complaints they usually wash the car after a service as well.

I'm still not sure what oil I'm gonna switch to, but probably something synthetic. I also need to get in somewhere soon for a manual transmission fluid change and clutch fluid flush.

I didn't get the tranny fluid changed, the MA told me since it's an MT I don't need it changed till 90,000km. Surprising that they didn't just go ahead and do it and charge me any ways since I asked for it! They flushed my brake fluid though, which is good. Apparently you are supposed to do that every 2-3 years.

That was at Open Road Honda. I've been there a few times for service, and I will probably go back, but I do like to try the different dealerships for service just to see what's different.

They used 5w20 oil for my oil change according to the invoice.
