Beware!!! WEED WACKER WORKERS!!!

Today, at about 10am I was on my way to ko'olina leaving from mililani side. Just near the H2 off ramp going toward H1 west there was two people (workers) cutting the grass along the freeway with weed wackers. The moment I passed them a LARGE SOUND like "smashing a water bottle" exploded. I didn't recognize anything wrong until I was near my girlfriends house. MY REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WAS CRACKED AND COMLETELY SMASHED!!!! it had the spider webbing look.. I was SHOCKED to see that my window was busted and falling apart! I then called 911 and filed a police report. I informed the cop about the two weed wacker people I saw but then he asked "how come i didn't stop on the scene?" I informed him that by the time I noticed the problem I was already at my girlfriends house.
sigh, the dumbest part about this situation was that the insurance company won't fix anything below $250 , so then what's the point of having insurance????? sigh... I don't want to pay for the broken window because it ain't my fault, so tomorrow my mom and me going to try and get that company to fix my window. The company agreed to look at the damage and possible repair it completely but we'll see what they do....

So what I learned today is that 1) weed wackers can do some really mean damage to your car, 2) if theres a loud sound near your car, STOP on the side and look at your car (no leave the scene if theres damage), 3) Insurance is worthless unless there is a heavy duty damage...
so beware weed wacking workers!!!!

Sorry, that sucks. I constantly found gardeners working near my Fit with weed wackers, leaf blowers, and even pressure washers, finally I got the company to give me a schedule of where they'd be working and when, so now I can avoid them.

i feel you man.
i had an experience where i zoomed by a piece of plastic on the road and i guess the pressure waves produced by my car moved the rubbish and hit the drivers side door. created a large THUMP noise and my gf convinced me to pull over and check it out. it left me 2 inch and a half long scratched deep enough to go through the clearcoat and paint and a door ding.

SUCKS! now i gotta spend $$$$$$$$$ to repair my car :/

Thank you everyone. Sigh... Come to find out that the people/ company that I thought that broke my window was really not the ones. Because it was on the FREEWAY it was the STATES fault. Now I'm in the process of having to fill out a form online, then mailing that form to them, and then wait to see if they'll give me a reimbursement for the total repair cost.

Oh and get this... window cost (tony honda) $180.87 and installation (ace windows) $75. total= $255.87. I have a 250 deductible with state farm and they say they won't pay for anything but will provide warranty for the window!!! WTF (what the FUDGE)!! its clearly over 250 and they should help me out.

So far I'm going to pay out of pocket for this repair $255.87.. I wanted to use this money to buy me a lip kit. ugh I really hope the state gives me that reimburstment
SOON!!!

damn your deductible is good.....only 250....mine is 500.

basically they only pay the difference after the deductible, so they would

have only covered like 6 bucks. state farm is the shizz

well guys.... get this.... Yesterday, I was called by the company (that was hired by the state) in charge of causing the damage to my car informed me that they will not give me a reimburstment. The guy on the phone kept repeating this line..." you should have stopped on the side. You should have stopped on the side. You should have stopped on the side".. and he constantly told me that he will not pay or give me a reimburstment. So dumb!!! This is so messed up!
I already payed and fixed my window for $260 at (ace window/dealership), Because this is just such a complex situation/ problem, I'm just going to drop it.

SO IN CASE THIS EVER HAPPENS TO YOU MY FELLOW FIT BUDDIES, JUST STOP AT THE SCENE AND CALL THE POLICE AND GET A REPORT ON THE SPOT!!! THAT WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEARN THE HARD WAY LIKE ME AND NOT GET A REIMBURSTMENT.
