Wanna Autocross? Aloha Stadium Hawaii

So where's the best place to order OEM accessories from? She needs a cargo shelf cover. I just bought door window visor things. I think I better make a pit-stop at the car parts store on my next trip to Japan.

Yep, see you guys on Sunday.
Ay Howzit Dirk! Welcome to the site!
Yeah, what Tom said....if u got the Fit from Tony, they have the new buyer's welcoming thing, so I picked up my floor mats & other stuff.
Yeah again, Evasive has allot of stuff. Here's where I've picked up various stuff:
2007-2010 Honda Fit Accessories : Genuine Honda Accessories at Discount Prices
Evasive Motorsports - Your Source for Import Automotive Performance Parts
King Motorsports Unlimited, Inc.
Honda Parts and Honda Accessories from Bernardi Parts - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories
Yup, hope your wife enjoys her Fit. Fun to drive and cargo wise--just fold the rear seats down and it can fit quite a lot of stuff in the back.
See ya @ the next event.
Mabo tofu out.

The new Fit is quite good even with auto transmission.
With manual transmission it's quite fun to drive.
I had bought two orange Fits, one 2007 and my daughter has it stored in Calif but might sell it to me and the other a 2008 Fit sport that was totalled in Oct 2008 after I had it one year with 8000 miles. I just did the first oil change.
I have autocrossed (test and tune) the 2008 Fit sport with both Kumho V710 205/50-15 tires on stock sized wheels and with Bridgestone RE-01R 195/50-15 tires on 15x7 rims and both were good combos with stock suspension.
I even tried on the 15x8 rims and 225/50-15 Kumho V710 tires and it was OK but did not drive it for autocross. I think it would work.
Good info tanukifit and raton...I shall order some stuff. She ended up getting the car at Honda Windward. Getting the car tinted tomorrow.
MINI-Fit...oh the 15x8 even fit huh? I might try it out one day then.

You guys did really good today given it wasn't really the right course design for a Fit.
Overall I think you both drove smoother and not too fast on the
slower turns. You can make it look easy but it requires some patience to stay within your limits.
Only 2 weeks then another event. This time maybe we get some crossovers.

Thanks for the walkthrough Brad. Yeah, we had to respect those slow corners. Congratulations on 1st place again Brad. And Dirk, if you read this...congrats too!
The parade lap was nice. It must have helped everyone when it came time to drive. I wish I had a chance to know Curtis better.

Unfortunately, my GoPro failed to record my laps 2, 3 and 4. What a waste.
Yup, the next event is right around the corner.
Laters...
It's amazing how they can come up with a new course that's pretty darn fun to drive every time.

Oh well. You were busy

Hey, Like I said you guys did great.
Street Touring class
1. Raton 40.439 sec, 73rd on raw time out of 123, 50th on PAX
2. Tanukifit 41.057 sec, 81st on raw time, 59th on PAX
3. Honda Civic Si 43.753 sec, Novice
4. Nissan Sentra 47.810 sec.
By comparison
In STX class
HawaiiSCCA driving a MINI that's pretty upgraded and on 15x8 rims and Yokohama Neova tires ran 39.422 good for first in class and 54th on raw time and 39th on PAX. That's a good fast benchmark for the Fits to reach.
And that 1.6L engine is supercharged about 180 HP.
Curtis was a very skilled driver, been doing autocross since about 1977 in the same 240Z. While the car has undergone many changes he knew how to drive it well and was a master at left foot braking. His tires were often worn out Kumho Victorracers while we were on new Hoosier A6 tires and still behind him. Thirty years from now if you are driving your Fits we can marvel at that.
When I started driving on a 60 sec course at Hawaii Raceway Park I would be trailing Curtis by 9 seconds. Later I could be happy trailing by 6 seconds until I got a lot more experience and did a bunch of changes in Street Mod class.

Except for JCW springs on my stock shocks, JCW exhaust, and tires/wheels. HP is back down to 163ish.
But yeah, raton and tanukifit did great...gonna make me get camber plates and get autocross alignment.

I think I'll try to talk my wife into allowing me to bring the Fit out to play with you guys.
Just got the rear shelf and door visors last night and installed them. She's happy now.

Hope I can make the next auto-x...will be in Guam from Tuesday to Tuesday but I'll try to finish things up and get back on Saturday night if possible.
Actually completely stock now.

Amazing, after you had done so much upgrading like the rest of us.

It's almost like you are reborn and starting over.
That's fine because after 7 years many upgraded parts can be getting old and worn so they need to be replaced anyway.
What would it be like to drive that last event at 34 seconds?
Take a look-

Here's my lawn mower engine Fit on the same course. haha.
YouTube - 10-24-2010- Hawaii SCCA - '08 Honda Fit Sport - 2 runs
I really hope I can get my GoPro to work next time.
Both are good examples-
Check out-
The speed of the run- almost like fast forward in the Porsche which means much less time to react or think. You must be looking ahead and setting up correctly.
Which line did you use and how does it compare?
Look at how much arm crossing there was? Chris hardly crosses except a little in the slalom. He shuffles his hands across the steering wheel. I don't think you have much control when your arms are crossed. Something to work on when you do street driving. Or had Chris drive your Fit in test and tune or in a fun run- see how he manages the wheel.
Attack the course. Go faster in the places you can go fast but slow enough for the tight spots. Chris attacks all the time, not because he's driving a Porsche but because that's how he gets a faster run done.
Get conditioned to the faster pace- watch Chris about ten times. Then watch the Fit and you will start to feel like you can manage a faster pace.
These videos are worth studying.

Tough course today for those with less than abundant power.
Still the Fits did well.
ST class
1. Subaru GC8 33.665 sec., 53rd out of 101 drivers, 34th on PAX
2. Tanukifit 34.208 sec., 61st on raw time, 45th on PAX
3. Raton 34.251 sec., 62nd on raw time, 46th on PAX
4. Sentra 40.509 sec.

Both of you were getting better and dropping times. Both had best times on the last run. Good job.

The Subaru (AWD 165 HP)
A wide open course will benefit those cars with enough power but they will need to respect the tight spots and slow enough. The fastest cars seemed to sail right through most of the tight areas and stay in control.

Yeah, this past event was something else.
Tom drove great! And the GC8 finally flexed his muscle. hahaha. That was a fast course. That start right into a slalom was tricky. That middle section coming down from McDs was a challenge too. And that hair-pin before the finish was kryptonite.
Looks like I may have to stick around for some fun runs to practice more. I'm just so pooped after working the course & driving; Plus, looking forward to some food. hahaha. We'll see.
All-in-all, it was fun as usual. Thanks for your help Brad. And congrats on another 1st place. You're having quite a battle with the 911.
Luckily, my GoPro worked ok. Kinda dark video though. Gotta see if I can change that. Here's the video from the event:

Next event is on 12/12.
See ya....

Next event Dec 12 all are welcome to attend or drive
The competition is hot and fast.
You'll have to fight for any advantage.
Make sure you are rested and ready (drink enough water, stay cool)
Study the course and adjust accordingly
Make each run count from the start
Push hard, don't be afraid but don't overdrive either.
The Porsche 911TT and I were separated by 0.08 seconds. The battle is on.
