Yeah, Tom and I ("Team Fit") got through the entire season. It's been fun, educational, and a real challenge. Looking forward to the next season.

I'm still in Arizona, but I'll post up the videos from the run-offs when I get back.
I just back from San Francisco tonight.

New season means we have work to do.

Thanks Tom. Funny, you can't tell on the 1st run, cuz it's so wet, but there was major understeer on the hairpin turn...but I came out @ the right spot. Weird, but fortunate. Thanks for pushing me so hard.

Your runs looked pretty good but to post a faster time you have to put together each piece of the puzzle.

Good job,

Pre-reg is open for this sunday's SCCA event March 22.

Be sure to sign up if you can.

New drivers will have to do walk up registration about 730am Sunday.

See you there.

Well, the 1st event of the 2009 season was this past Sunday. There were a lot of cars in our class--9 of them. 08FitSport and I ran our Fits.

The course was the "fastest" (allowed for more speed) one I've seen so far.

The final results were very close.

. Name ... Make Model ... Run1 . C Run2 . C Run3 . C Run4 . C Best ... OA
Randall A. Honda Fit..... 30.054 . 30.511 . 29.259 . 29.974 . 29.259 . 63
Howard S.. Nissan Altima. 31.870 . 30.850 . 30.138 . 29.433 . 29.433 . 67
Thomas K.. Honda Fit..... 32.016 1 30.168 . 29.517 . 31.929 1 29.517 . 70

SueAnn T.. Subaru Legacy. 36.060 . 34.623 . 33.475 . 32.446 . 32.446 . 102

Legend:
C - Cones (1 cone = 2 seconds were added to time)
N - Novice
OA - Ranking based on Best time (out of 106 drivers on 3/22)
DNF - Did Not Finish Run

Brad...Thanks again your help and instruction. You were really flying out there with your GT-R! Looks like you'll be battling with the other GT-R and the two other Corvettes in your class. Wow! How was driving the GT-R?

Tom...Awesome driving dude! And thanks for your help! Your advice "Ride the cones before the hair-pin" really helped take that 1st hair-pin! "Team Fit" is trying to say up there. The Ultima is challenging and Joshua's Civic (the Nemisis...j/k) is back.

Till next time....

That's Brad's (MINI-Fit) car. Very nice!

In fact, there are two GT-Rs running in the same class. The other GT-R has a complete after-market suspension setup and race tires. That's two heavy-weights slugging it out....w/ 2 Corvettes also in the fray!

Here's videos of both GT-Rs. Brad's is the "darker" gray (gun-metal is the color, I think?). The other GT-R is a "lighter" gray/silver:

Yeah,
Since I lost my Fit I had to buy a replacement.

So I thought, hmmm. What to get, a Fit Sport or maybe a GTR.

Tough choice.

This is my wife's face when I brought up the GTR.

She said. What for?

I said, it's because I like to

Then I didn't bother her (that much) for about 5 days.

She talked to her female friends and mentioned our discussion.

Then she said it was

So come out to the next event April 12 and see the Fit Sports vs the GTRs, two each slugging it out. In both classes we finished first and third respectively, let's see if we can do better. I think it is possible.

lol... I can't think of anyone I know that's more deserving of a car like that. You'll put it to good use, I'm sure, as it was intended to be used.

you should buy your wife something to make up for it... wheels and tires for her car, maybe?

enjoy, brah!

Yeah,
Great great great idea. I agree completely on the wheels and tires.

However, she has zero appreciation for car mods.

So her predicted face when I suggest it would be-

Her more desired "mod" would be to clean up the clutter and trash we have in the house and garage accumulated after living there for 18 years.

A much tougher assignment.

I've worked in Hawaii for 21 years and never bought a car over about $25K and only bought 2 cars for myself (one I kept for 12 years and the other is my MINI). The rest were either used or family hauling cars (max about $20K).

I wasn't really interested in anything that was more common (easy to find) and I didn't really want to not use it for daily driving or street use. That eliminates many of the common sports cars and all the exotics.

It is ashamed that Hawaii doesn't have a track. If it did I think that GTR sales would be quite healthy because for the price and in stock form it's pretty hard to beat and very friendly to drive.

Maybe they both belong to the same online cleaning forum.

She buys lots of books on cleaning and organizing but I think it's not so easy to get it all done.

She wants to buy more storage to put away things but I tell her once they go to storage she won't be looking there anymore.

The bigger the house or apartment the more space there is to clutter up until it's all full. Then you have to MOVE. Bad.

My Fit was my "money pit" for 1.5 years....you should've seen my apartment....it was like Oscar Madison (Odd Couple) messy! haha.

Now that I'm done w/ the mods...I need to shift the "money pit" title to my apartment. Hopefully redo my kitchen & bath. Maybe.

We'll see though, I was looking @ getting the supercharger in 2 years maybe.

I can't believe you are "done" with the mods? For how much everything costs you could have a (used) BMW M3 by now. Maybe.

I think of doing mods as a project. Like a "science" project but big and you can drive it around and do things.

The only car I did mods to was the MINI although I did think of modding before. When I got the Fit my wife said (NO modding). So I could only do a little like cosmetic things. Like the Dead pedal and such.

I have a friend selling his SSR 18" wheels with Bridgestone RE-01R in 225/40-18 to fit the Civic but that's my wife's car and I don't think it will go unnoticed. Maybe if I put on Honda centercaps it will throw her off a little.
Not likely though.

It's time to pre-register for the April 12 autocross event for those that have driven before.

Hope to see you there.

After this event we have a long break until July 12.

The annual awards dinner is in June and you can sign up to go now.

Don't forget the funrun cards when you are paying.
