There is always room for one more person since I have not pulled out the front passenger seat yet.

It will be about 345 or 4pm when we do fun runs. I drive in heat 2 in the late morning.

Bring your shoes and we will need a helmet for you- either bring one or rent one using your driver's license.

Hope I can remember how to drive since not having an event since 10/15.

online registration is now open for 12/17 autocross

http://www.sccahawaii.org/Agree_S2_reg.html

Have fun but don't delay. Once it reaches 100 then it closes.

You snooze, you loose.

That won't be too easy... yet.
The FIT is very new still and in very short supply in most areas. California should be better than most areas for autocross and for the number of FITs out on the road.

You can check with the California forums to see how active they are or hook up with some local FIT groups and see if you all want to check out the autocross scene. You can ask questions on this site to get some idea on how to approach autocross.

Stay in the stock classes in the beginning and think of upgrading tires when you are ready. Street tires can be used for street and autocross but better R compound tires are good for autocross use only. You mount them on stock rims that came with the FIT and use street tires on aftermarket rims to drive to and from the events. Race tires are stored in your FIT.

In Hawaii we still don't see many FITs at autocross. We do see other Hondas, Scion xB and tC, corollas, sentras, G-35s, lots of miatas and subarus.

-- update --
As of this morning the online pre registration is STILL OPEN.
I guess some people are still snoozing.

Don't miss out on some mid december fun.

---------
Something of note.

It's mid december and in Hawaii our weather permits autocrossing throughout the winter.

Sometimes we get rain but after running in flash floods and earthquake weather last event I think we can handle anything.

OK the next autocross is this sunday-

Pre reg is closed.

Meet at the gate before 7am at Aloha Stadium lower parking lot.
Rain or shine we run.

Spectators always welcome to drop by. It's only something like 50 cents to park your car for the flea market and you can go to that too and do some shopping.

We will be actually driving from about 10am to 4pm most likely. This week we hope to have as many as 130 drivers of all sorts.

If you can't make it for the whole day just drop by. Hopefully kkim with be there and join me for a run at the end of the day. I was going to play music really loud while I drive but it might skip alot with hard turns and bumps. Yikes.

No kidding that actually happens. Also when I tune my suspension to stiff it isn't pretty- a very rough ride indeed and very hard on the CD player.
The music ends up being mostly off rather than mostly on. Oh well.

OK, No earthquakes this sunday. We should be good.

It's been rainy lately and today is gusty.

Next dates are Jan 7 and 28th at Aloha Stadium lower parking lot.

We learned alot from the course this month. It doesn't have to be very long to be challenging to novice and experienced driver alike.

We'd still like to see more FITs out there.

We had 109 drivers this event with a capacity for about 130. I guess some decided to do shopping or other things.

kkim it was great to spend the day with you and hope you didn't get too scorced from the sun. Read over the info and we'll do it all over again one more day.

Just a heads up for any FIT drivers at SCCA autocross.

2007 Honda Fit base or Sport will be classed in H-Stock.

You must use your original rims that came with your car.

So Base Fit runs with 14" wheels (remove the wheel covers)

And Fit Sport runs with 15" alloy wheels.

If you swap wheels then you move to another class-

If you use street tires (treadwear at least 140) then

STS (street Touring S) - no limited differential

If you use R-compound tires then

FSP (F-Street Performance)

These classes are defined by the tires used not the rim sizes, you can run rims that are larger and wider than stock in STS and FSP. You can run the HFP 16" rims in either class.

Next event is Jan 28th.

Online pre registration for prior drivers is Jan 20th saturday at about 9am probably for about one day or until 100 drivers sign up.

All new drivers can come in person the morning of 1/28 before the gate opens at 7am to register ($28 for each non SCCA member and $20 for SCCA members) for later in the afternoon, heats 3 or 4. That way you can have an instructor.

We had four Mitsubishi Evos from a club in SM and EM classes today out for the first time. And we had good weather despite the forecast for rain.

Your big chance to autocross

Jan 28th is the next autocross date at the Aloha Stadium.
No more dates after that for now- more coming later if approved.

Here is your chance to drive like a real nut.

No speed limit. Just don't hit any cones along the way.

It's fine to scare the cones all you want.

Sign up for veteran drivers is tomorrow morning online at 9am on Sccahawaii.org website. Just click on registration and fill out the details.

New drivers need to come early in the morning to sign up in person on 1/28 about 645am no matter if you want to drive later in the day usually heat 3 or 4.

Bring your FIT, hope to see you there. I check the parking lot each event and haven't seen any FITs!
