The said they only had one Fit Sport and they TOLD me is was an AT, when I got there it was an MT, but I test drove that anyway while they said they were going to bring me the Silver AT from the Santa Monica Dealership.

Long Story Short - I got there at 2pm, they didn't get the car back to the dealership until about 9:30pm, I didn't get out of there until about 10pm because they had to detail it. For some reason it took forever for them to get the car! When it arrived it still had the plastic wrap on the seats and around the interior door panel, so it seemed like it was fresh from the factory. Only good thing about the entire day at the dealership was that my salesman, April, took me out for dinner at a nice sushi restaurant. Too bad she's like 45 years old. It only took 8 Hours to get the car... Everybody was really nice though and they're lucky I'm a person with patience. No reason to go off on somebody, making the situation worse than it already is.

2008 Fit Sport SSM AT - $16,122 + TT&L @ 6.49% for 36 Months. I sold my 2002 Civic Ex today for $8,000, so the total down payment was $10105. Then I got the 6-Year 100K extended warranty also. Included in the price was a trunk tray and wheel locks.
OTD Price was 18,405.
that is really cool! my salesman took me to mcdonalds lol.

...and yes I AM driving that far for that price. Everywhere else was quoting me $19k or more.

Got mine used 07' tw sport w/17k from Piazza Honda PA, for 14,265 OTD. Had to pay shipping to AZ $900. So $15,165 delivered to my door. This took me over a month to find a TW fit manual, and at a good price.

Got my '08 Fit Sport Automatic for MSRP. No special deal. Went through four dealers and none were willing to deal at all. They seem to be able to sell all that they can get.

Happy with my new Fit though. I need to find some good floor mats.

these days if you're a member with Costco, USAA, or anyone with pre-negotiated member pricing you'll probably get the best deal out there.

not counting lojack and tax, title & license, my pre-negotiated price was $16,313...

paid around 14 but I knew what invoice price was and I came with 10 in cash plus it helps if you buy from a dealer whom you have bought from several times

no money down...somehow it was cheaper without any down and paying $50 extra a moth lol, was gonna put $2500 I think down though. $366/month for the car and extended warranty(7yr/100k mi.) and something with the dealer, forgot but it's like onstar...but not onstar or even like onstar being you have to use your phone :P In the end it's $20k...just a tad over if I remember right. Sorta sucky, but it's aiight I guess. So far it's been worth it.

Does anyone know if one were to buy a new Fit with a loan approved from your own bank, would you still have to add GAP insurance to the car?

I live in Orange County, CA. But I was able to find a 2009 Honda Fit Sport MT for MSRP at Avery Greene Honda in Vallejo. Yes, I drove all the way up to Vallejo to pick up this car. I suppose I could have waited a little longer (because it looks like there might be some local SoCal dealers dropping their prices to move inventory). But who could've predicted the financial crisis. Besides, I made a trip out of it and saw some family in Napa. Anyhoo, here's what I paid:

MSRP+Delivery = $16730
Doc fee = $55
Tax = $1300.84
DMV electronic filing = $28
License = $120
Registration = $45
Tire fee = $8.75
Smog Abatement = $20
OTD = $18307.59

My experience is that GAP usually isn't required. All GAP does is if you somehow total the car before it is paid off, it pays the difference of what your insurance will pay (required to have full coverage by most financial institutions) and the amount you still owe.

While some people like GAP coverage for the peace of mind, my thought is that not many people use it.

In case this makes a difference, I'm in California. Maybe other states require GAP coverage?

I purchased my Fit last week for MSRP less $250 plus destination charge. That was through the Costco pre-negotiated sale. From what I was told, dealerships are required to sell cars at least $250 under MSRP to be part of this program. Since the dealerships in the area can't keep them on the lot, this was reasonable to us.

I also added the center console, back cover, and wheel locks--uninstalled (we did it ourselves). After taxes, DMV, etc. it was somewhere around $21,380. Their accessories were above MSRP. I've since ordered all season mats and the cargo mat online for less than MSRP. That makes me feel a little better.

Best of luck with your negotiations!

2009 MT Base

In the end of January I paid for 2009 Fit Base MT (with keyless entry/security plus armrest) :
$16000 OTD
price of the car $14007
doc fee $599
tag and registration $400
and taxes.

You can't say about any Florida dealer that he was good - look at the documentation fee. And no, you cannot negotiate it.

Just got my 2010 Fit Sport Auto for 15738 (~$17,500 OTD since I live in 9.75% tax area). Anderson Honda in Palo Alto rocks. Email with Jack Puls or Gus Stevenson and get your deal in writing before you go. They seem to regularly have them on special (new fit sport auto) for $15,988. They also had a yelp discount but I think it's gone now.

2010 White Base Fit Auto, $16,200 out the door.

I also live in a high tax area, so the price I got off overstock.com was $14,500 including destination charge and before taxes and fees.
