so does this form better when heated? Like say i wanted to wrap a ball (hypothetically speaking), would i just put it on the ball and add a little heat from a hairdryer or is that not necessary? I showed a bunch of local guys and all are highly highly interested in getting a group buy together to buy a big roll of this stuff.
Oh, post this up over at PBNation.com, it's a paintball website but a lot of those guys have $2000 guns that they'd love to wrap in this stuff, just post it in the correct forum and it would be a huge success over there. Lemme know if you want me to link you to the area you'd have to post it.

Yes the material is formable with heat. An excerpt from the instructions and included on the sample sheet:

To install your sample: (full detailed instruction included in
orders) Install is best performed between 68-77 degrees F in
a controlled environment. After cleaning the area to be
carbonized, start by warming the material a bit - 80-90
degrees to soften it a bit, then peel back a portion of the
backing paper and apply, pressing down side to side with
your fingers. Once a portion is set you can continue pulling
the backing paper back and pressing the material down. If
going over a depression the material is suspended above,
warmed to between 104-122 degrees and pressed down. If
going over a convex (raised) surface the material is heated
similarly and stretched smooth. Once all material is applied
re-warn edges and fully set, if wrapping to a back side do
so now. When finally set, go over the edges and any
sections with significant stretching at a higher heat setting,
getting the surface up to 176 degrees (to a max of 194 F)

I have seen a few photos of wrapped paint ball guns from Europe (where the material is made), looks good to my eye.

got a buddy who has a question, what's the average cost for enough of this to wrap a hood, more specifically a Chevy Sonic.

(also, a free bump for an awesome product)

Thanks! The material needed for a hood varries as hoods come in a variety of sizes. The hood on the Fit is one of the smallest out there, not sure on the Sonic as I have never personally measured one.

For sizing your best bet is to measure the length and width of the hood at its maximum points and add a few inches for handling. Rough ball park for materials 70-140 depending on the size of the hood.

The 60" wide carbon fiber wrap is on the site here and would be what you would need.

Any samples left? I've already got some from another company on my car and would like to see how it matches.

Kia Optima owners' DIY on wrapping chrome trim with our Hexis Carbon Fiber Wrap!

To Add, final step : When finally set, go over the edges and any sections with significant stretching at a higher heat setting, getting the surface up to 176-194 degrees. Be careful not to overheat the material as it is possible to overheat it and permanent damage the material. Go over the just cut edges with the top side of your fingernail to make sure the edge it completely sealed and rolled.
